    the only violet smith i could find was this one:

    If she was an orphan, who was she raised by? maybe the mother died, and the father couldnt cope.........................this is very diificult with the name Smith, you were right.

    well she was raised by 2 aged aunts thats wot we were told and found out louisa had 3 sisters sydney only had one so i think gran was brough up by her mums family , i did wonder if she was ever adopted with being a single child and being born 6 yrs after the wedding , even if one of them died i should be able to find it will just ahve to keep digging deeper !!.thanks xx

    Have you searched the BMDs, on ancestry page by page, you know a search doesnt bring anything up after abt 1919, also if you have already had a free trial on ancestry, you can do it again, by using another email address and card.

    yeh ive got a weeks holiday owing to me ill maybe do it then i live on a farm and dont get a lot of spare time but i really need the answer.............

    just had a thought, do you have an address for your nan in the 1920s? you could search the electorl rolls, but this would mean a trip to London to the revelent Library, as they are not online.See whos at the address?

    good idea another idea i got is that sydney was a stone mason worked for himself just wonder if there was a guild of stone masons??

    Mother Emma aged 32,

    Father possible George (bad census copy) aged 33 , a Gas Fitter , both parents born Badingham, Suffolk
