Hi, I work for Essex Libraries. Essex and a number of other library authorities subscribe to the full version of Ancestry which can be accessed for free from any library computer. Try looking on your library's website to see if they subscribe.0

access is also free here

Family History Centers are branch facilities of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Centers provide access to most of the microfilms and microfiche in the Family History Library to help patrons identify their ancestors. Everyone is welcome to come to the centers and use Family History Center resourcesEx forum ambassador

A couple of updates to above:
1. The Ancestry at libraries is *NOT* the full version. It's called the Ancestry Library Edition. I know for a fact that they are not the same because if I go onto Ancestry full edition, I can find a record in the search. However, if I go on Ancestry Library Edition with the same search, it does not show the same database. It's close but also not 100%.
Also, a lot of libraries only let you book for 30 minutes or 60 minutes at a reference. That's not much time when you're doing family research.
2. Family History Centers no longer have access to Ancestry, as of earlier this year. They fell out with their Ancestry contract, so now you cannot access it unfortunately.
Ancestry is so expensive, they are like a monopoly. I wish there were some smaller groups that would split the cost of the membership, even though I'm sure that's against their terms.0 -
Ancestry has also stopped the free search of the BMDs:mad:0
