  • I wonder if anyone else has sneakily done this? Got paid on 21st December as the pay run is earlier because of Christmas, rather than at the end of the month as normal. The downside is how long it is until the end of January :( The upside is I made my 1st Jan payment early, ensuring I am more careful over Christmas, and also lowering the interest just a little bit more. :)
  • hi thanks for running this challenge, can I keep my number 100 please. Only aim to pay £1000 in overpayments next year as my mortgage is down to £28,000 so my aim is a new kitchen and my pension pot.

Worth ringing up the bank on Wednesday to confirm the payment will be counted correctly. For us, any payments made outside of the arranged DD for the regular payment go on as overpayments, so paying early would equate to paying twice.
  • My usual DD goes on as ever. I then have a SO which I also pay on the same day usually, plus Faster Payments if there is any money spare. It's all showing on the website as payments made.
  • Please can we I join? I'd like to try and overpay £7k this year.

Think we have £292K left having moved in in January 2016 with a mortgage of £302K or something. Have 29 years left.
    Original 35 year mortgage: January 2016, £306,000
January 2022 : £198,000 (£30k saving pot split equally between cash and alternative investments)

    January 2022: 2x £3k child ISA.

purplevamp, I've put everyone without numbers yet into the second tab (along the bottom) called Pending. :) Come January 1 I'll allocate numbers for everyone there.

bournefree, 59 was taken this year but it doesn't look like they checked in at all, so you'll probably get it for 2017. :)

    Thank you :)

My DD isn't coming out until 28th this month. I'm desperate to do one last OP too but have to wait until Wednesday...

Currently have mortgage at around £12,500 & started full time job 2 weeks ago with the aim of paying off asap, but definitely before 2018 arrives ( if all goes to plan )

  • Can I join in please. I'm waiting for my mortgage offer. Mortgage will be £105k for 11 years. I want to overpay ideally £3k this year (2017). Any hints and tips will be appreciated
  • I would like to join again, please. Any number will do. The target is £4000, as we have a very, very tight year ahead of us.

    Thank you.

Should possibly add that I'm not planning on making any capital payments to our BTL until the new tax year - will be building up funds between now and then to hopefully start off with a £1500 payment straight off - so it will look like I've forgotten about the challenge in the meantime but I won't have! :) - I will still be reading/ following, but for ease for our personal finances won't do anything for a while (although am itching to do so!) :D
