Fan heaters

Oh dear. I lodged with someone for five years, until recently. My rent exceeded her mortgage payment. She would think nothing of taking half hour showers, or boiling a full kettle for a cup of tea, but would complain if I left my room to go to another without switching off the (LED) light. Landlords, eh?0

Me too.
I'll throw away this 60W thermostatically controlled electrical heater, and replace it with a nice 3kW heater, safe in the newly found knowledge it will cost the same amount to run. :cool:0 -
I hope you and your lodger are at least going half and half with the electricity bill as using the fan heater as much as you describe will increase the bill noticeably.0

yes your 6 x 60w heaters cost the same to run as a 3000w heater.
if you only run 1 it will give approx 1/5th of the heat but only cost 1/5th of the price to run. :jMr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

Ha ha.
I'll clarify for the comedians amongst us. A 1kw heater will cost the same amount to run whether it's a fan heater, oil filled radiator or halogen.0 -
No that is the problem. Her rent is inclusive of bills so she pays the same amount no matter what. I cover everything else.0

Maybe some are like that but not me.
I had a guy here for 3 years, he had a girlfriend who stayed at least 3/4 nights a week sometimes more depending on her shifts. She used to have a bath before bed every night and a shower in the morning. Despite the fact I am on a water meter I nevereally made an issue of this.
If it had become a problem financially I would have needed to increase the rent but didn't come to that.
So same situation now. If the increased electricity usage means my payments go up I will have to pass some of it on to her. If they stay the same then it won't be an issue.0 -

Sorry to state the bleedin' obvious but of course they will!0 -
I know they will, just trying to work out they will go up a lot. As have seen conflicting information when googling this.0
