    Hi folks,

some advice please. Ideally I'm trying to get a luxpower 5k AC given price difference between that and the 3K AC is minimal - although being told that I'd have to get DNO approval to get this inverter for managing my batteries?

Is that right or am I confused somewhere?

Also, bare in mind the Lux Power LXP5000 is a hybrid pv inverter/battery controller so would replace your current pv inverter.
It's a different bit of kit to the Lux 3K which is ac coupled so not directly connected to your pv and only controls the battery.

ah that's right. wouldn't want the lxp5xxx series - just the 3k / 5k models. frustratingly getting one quote that has really cheap 3.5kw pylontek batteries but an expensive inverter and install, and another place that has cheaper inverter + install but much more expensive pylontek 2.4kw batteries! Wish I could divide and conquer :) i guess i could theoretically buy some of the equipment myself online and ask the cheaper person to install the inverter?

That's kind of the way I went.

If you are ok with electrics, honestly the install is childsplay.

Something to note about the 5k is that when it comes to batteries it's still only charging and discharging at 3.6k, so only a 5k solar inverter, 3.6k battery inverter if you see what I mean?

I'm not finding anyone cheaper for inverters or batteries than think renewables.

Theres some on ebay, but when you look into the listing, it's like email me off Ebay, to a dodgy looking email address which raises big flags for me

Aye, I've seen those popping up recently. They're all job lots of 3 or more and the price is too good to be true.
I messaged one through ebay just out of interest to see if they would sell them individually but got no reply.
I bought mine from one of the legit listings on ebay and had no issues.

If you do get a system and install it yourself, how does islanding work if you already have a solar PV system.

Isn't there a danger of each seeing the other system as a connection to the grid and maintaining the voltage, thereby creating a hazard to anyone working on the line?

I guess its something within the circuitry within the ac storage, as you can set them as a ups, but it requires to be on a different circuit.

I have in effect, 4 separate inverters so 4 potential suppliers of "fake mains", but when I kill the power, they all go down.

To be fair, before working on electrics I do go and isolate each one, but they never stay on when the CU mains switch is off

Is the Tesla Powerwall the only battery than can be mounted on the outside of the house? Or are there others?

Noticed here that Moixa have released new 7.2kWh or 9.6kWh Battery Systems.

But curiously have gone down the Pylontech battery route for these ones.
The 7.2kWh & 9.6kWh Battery Systems are made up of a Moixa Hub, Pylontech Battery Modules and a Victron Inverter.

    9.6kWh - £5,950
    7.2kWh - £4,950

in addition to their existing standlaone/single unit product (4.8kWh for £3,950)
