I think most of us are just weary from the constant argument/contradiction from one particular member jumping on posts every time we post some factual news or give an opinion.
Lively debate with differing opinions is one thing but this is something else altogether.
It's coming across like there's an agenda and it's getting very old.
I understand what you are saying but who are the ‘we’ - are we talking about the Mart collective who have a unified view of how things should be? Do you identify with a group of other people on the forum. Do you challenge the posts of members of your group?
There are people on this forum from all mix of social, employment and geographic backgrounds who I imagine before coming on here all had widely disparate views. I find it surprising that so many can coalesce into such a unified group critical of ALL points made by GA but that certainly seems to be the case. I disagree with more of his points than I agree with but I can see the merit in others.
An example is the recent discussion about the cost of ICE power trains. Evidence has been presented which appears to support GA’s points of view but not one member of the (let’s call it) the anti GA group can bring themselves to acknowledge that there may be some logic behind the argument. Instead attempts are now being made to undermine GA (and me) by grouping us together and ridiculing us.
The next point will undoubtedly be disputed but I would suggest you have a look at the Wikipedia article on Fundamentalism and the link in that article to ‘in groups and out groups.’
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamentalism
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In-group_and_out-group
I think these articles far better explain the animosity shown to GA (and to me to a lesser extent) than the content of the arguments GA makes.
The suggestion that GA is always jumping on posts ‘every time’ is something of an exaggeration. I think the reverse is the case that the group jumps on GA’s posts and my own. Some of the threads that seem to be most contentious were started by GA or by me. Why shouldn’t we post on those threads? If members of the group are so weary of our posts why bother to respond? The reason is simply explained by the links I provided.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -
If it's an agenda then it's a very confused one! I don't see how one poster is likely to have patents on, or investments in, all of:
* international grid interconnectors
* nuclear reactors
* district heating grids
* 5-person miniature electric robo-taxis
* human longevity extension to 200+ years using shark DNA
* solar PV for roofs of cars
* bear AI
* plug-in hybrids with (specifically!) 55 mile range
* magical underground car tunnels
* and more....
But that list doesn't effectively describe what the real agenda is, and it's pretty likely to be a much shorter list at that, probably just two major points & some basic logic ....
*1 Distract
*2 Disrupt
*3 If anyone still has an opposing view Goto*1 .else. look to repeat elsewhere
.... pretty standard approach executed in a pretty standard way, it's just a shame that there's a (very small) cohort that look to support the approach at every possible opportunity whilst still expecting to maintain any degree of credibility !!

One would ask the question why?Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -
Those prices sound ok. Think Renewables by any chance ?
We paid £2600 for 4.8kwh but that involved a bit of haggling on ebay to get the the price of the batteries down a bit.
Nah, it's a smaller Essex based company.
With batteries - can you scale it up yourself once installers have done the hard work? Assuming you cant just buy stuff on ebay and install it all yourself?5.41 kWp System, E-W. Installed Nov 2017

A few people have done the whole install themselves. The only bit I wouldn't recommend unless your a spark is the connection to your CU. Other than that, anyone with half decent diy skills should manage the rest.
I went with a guy who installs the Lux regularly to save me the hassle and ensure it's all done properly.
He did everything including setting up the wifi and Lux account.
One thing I would recommend once you have it up and running is requesting a firmware update which is done remotely by Luxpower. We had an issue with a small amount of import when the battery was discharging which a firmware update greatly improved. The import is now down to about 300wh a day compared to around 1kwh before the update.Scott in Fife, 2.9kwp pv SSW facing, 2.7kw Fronius inverter installed Jan 2012 - 14.3kwh Seplos Mason battery storage with Lux ac controller - Renault Zoe 40kwh, Corsa-e 50kwh, Zappi EV charger and Octopus Go0 -
Not sure about other systems but with a Lux and Pylontechs, it's literally plug an' play to add another battery. Just a case of connecting a few cables. I believe you may need to change one or two settings on the Lux but nothing more complex than that.

Thanks so much for all the help!
Would I need to get rid of my solax inverter?
Or is the management controller (I think lxp 3600 acs) an addition to my inverter?5.41 kWp System, E-W. Installed Nov 2017

No, your inverter still works along with your pv. The Lux does a different job.
The Lux controller is what's known as ac coupled or in other words, connected to the ac side of your electric system.
In fact, strictly speaking, you don't even need pv to use an ac coupled battery. You can charge it from the grid during a cheaper period assuming your on a suitable tariff and have it discharge at a time of day when prices are higher.
The Lux controller allows you to set up to three seperate grid charging schedules which you set remotely via an app or this web interface ......

Awesome info, again - thanks so much!
I can't seem to find any info around an API. Any way to access charge / discharge rate data? I'd love to hook this up with my domoticz setup...5.41 kWp System, E-W. Installed Nov 2017

You can certainly adjust the charge/discharge rate with the app/web interface.
The guys at Think Renewables are very helpful. I'm sure if you contacted them they could let you know if there's an api available.Scott in Fife, 2.9kwp pv SSW facing, 2.7kw Fronius inverter installed Jan 2012 - 14.3kwh Seplos Mason battery storage with Lux ac controller - Renault Zoe 40kwh, Corsa-e 50kwh, Zappi EV charger and Octopus Go0
