Depending on which bit of Lincs it is, probably "East Midlands" or (stretching it a bit) "East Anglia".

Seems a pretty strange policy to me though as I live in the East Midlands although about 30 miles West of the Lincs border so wouldn't be eligible.

Mind you, I've been looking at OVO rates with a view to V2G (although really looking for a V2H route) and found that their basic rate for my consumption would be approx £300 more than current supplier.

Read a just published paper yesterday which modelled the optimum dod for an off grid solar pv supplied battery at 70%.
    Optimum as in techno economic.

Its a paper based on a model taking a year data but it looks like the concensus might be going towards that sort of figure for all batteries to maximise the economic aspects.

First full month of having the PowerWall installed and E7 scheduling working, so charging using E7 electricity.

Total 'peak' electricity spend last month was 17kWh.
Total 'off peak' electricity spend last month was 899kWh.

Tried to submit the meter reading to Bulb online and their system wouldn't let me as it think am making up the numbers, have sent them a picture of the meter reading to confirm. They already send a meter man to read the meter 10 days ago, so they might send another one soon :).

That’s quite a saving there. How much does that translate to in £/month?

Hi, did you/ your installer have to get approval from your DNO for the battery and how helpful were they?

New episode of Fully Charged looking at the changes that Bobby had to do (spoiler - install 3phase) for permission to add a second Tesla PWII, and some of the cool tricks it (especially the gateway device) can do.

Can you run your house off a battery? Tesla Powerwall 2 (Founders Series) & Tesla Backup Gateway 2
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.
  • I do on occasion run my house off a battery. I leave 30% charge in my PWII to handle supply failures. The gateway manages the switchover automatically.

Earlier versions of the Tesla gateway did not supply the house when there was a supply side outage, I waited for the newer version to become available before I had mine installed.

I need to switch to Octopus so I can use their Go tariff to charge my battery overnight at 5p/unit.

One of the thoughts Ive had recently was to charge my pylontechs to 100% from the mains then set min discharge to 80% (as in 80% full) for these months (seeing as they never seem to get more than 20% in during nov-jan)
That way if there is a failure I have 80% backup to play with, rather than running the generator up and charging the battery from that (which was my initial plan, and with a multi hour outage would still be the case).
My system will be stable with no changes for a year in early Jan so will have a year full data then.

Why don't you do that & then put one back online for the times when there is a bit of sunshine.

Had thought about doing it with the 2 younger ones for up to 6 months to even out the usage/age across all 4.
Will do it in Jan when I have the full year data.
