Strangely, the spec for the charger says it's only compatible with Nissan EV's with more than 30kwh.
Although in the faq, it states you can take part in the trial if you have a 24kwh that's out of warranty.
Edit :
Actually, there's more to it than that with a 24kwh Leaf ......
"Just spoke to Sean at OVO, unfortunately they have deemed the 2011/12 leaf too old a chemistry and they wont be having those on their trial. which was the same answer as the very first time I tried to apply to this but the last time the web application hadn't filtered me out correctly. so if the leaf 24 need to be at least 5 years old but not 8 years old it is a very small band of leaf 24s to be on the trial."
Could anyone tell me please what were the changes to the Leaf battery and when did they come in? I’m not looking for a really technical answer, just if the change has any practical significance. If I am going to look for a Leaf primarily for V2H are there any to avoid? Is the 40kwh battery different technology? I might consider a 40kwh model as it would make a more practical car (rather than being just a battery) but then as it would be a newer car should I worry about the warranty with V2H use?
My head says wait a bit longer but the years are ticking by and there will always be something better just round the corner so the heart says get on with it.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -
The main change in the leaf battery was going to 'lizard' cells in 2014. The 30kwh battery also has some bad reviews but those might have been false-positives. In short if you're buying a second hand leaf you should be reading up on the systems that were in use at the time it was made as well as checking the state of the battery in the one you're buying.

The early leaf battery had different chemistry from what I've read.
24 is allowed but if it's still under 5 years old you have to forego the warranty, because ovo have only agreed with nissan to honour the 30 and 40 leafs is my understanding
Coastalwatch, I was initially told no on that basis also. But there is potential for agreeing to a 4kw cap, and having the charger fitted.
I'm in discussions with them now about it.West central Scotland

I know you’ve been looking for V2H for a while and wondered what your thoughts were on the Wallbox Quasar. Are there any implications for your warranty with V2H or V2G?
It would certainly be interesting to learn of others experience with Wall box!East coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. Nissan Leaf plus Zappi charger and 2 x ASHP's. It would be something of a sacrifice to have our supply capped at 4kW but certainly worthy of consideration, depending on the small print etc.East coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. Coastalwatch wrote: »Hi Solarchaser and thanks for the heads up. I own a 40 kWh Leaf and would love to take part, however, because my system is over 4kWp they declined my application.:(
They've approved my system after I agreed a 4kW limit. In my case there should be little to no capping as it can spike to 4.9kW in perfect conditions, in June/July, but can only sustain 4.2kW, and so after household consumption my export is unlikely to exceed 4kW by much, or at all.
Edit - Sorry forgot to say, they did mention capping at 4kW if the generation was close to 4kW. I've no idea if that's just something the front line troops are saying, and if it is a real issue with the tech guys in the background, or not. So certainly worth asking them, but just wanted to mention that in case I mislead anyone, or raise false hopes. M.Mart. So have you taken the plunge and bought an EV?Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -
Or in this case, batteries with no toy.
Dont know if you know this already but register the batteries online for the extra 2 years warranty.
IIRC its 5 years at 80% and 7 years at 70% if you register with them.
Although the warranty is well...
Plus if they start going on fire around the world, you might get an email ;-)0 -
