Scared walking to work in early hours of morning

hi,
I do some maintenance work for a few hours the start time is 6am. Where i work is not too far away so i always walk. I do not have a car. Half the time i get a lift to work but now my colleague has left (no one else can pick me up) i'm stuck walking down a road that is lite up with houses, but is next to woodland on the otherside. Sometimes there are lots of cars going down the road, sometimes not.
I have been doing this job for months, but recently i just don't feel safe, i 'm thinking of leaving, do you think this is a good reason to leave a job you enjoy?

Absolutely not. Get a rape alarm, it makes such a deafening noise the people n the houses will hear it.0

No, if I'm honest. You've stated that you're walking down a road with houses and cars so it's not like you're trudging through the woodland itself.
You could get a bike - that'd make the journey quicker and probably less scary.
Make you are wearing hi visibility clothing and maybe take a torch.0 -
I wouldn't be happy walking that - but cycling it seems like a good idea.0

Its not a good enough reason if you dont have another job to go too.0

shame to give up a job you enjoy, as others have said, get a bike, rape alarm on a necklace and lights on yer bike and high Vis jacket. Later someone else may start at your work place and give u a lift.0

there is probably more risk of being injured by a carelessly driven vehicle than someone nasty coming out of those woods0

What is your actual concern?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

And walk confidently! Presuming as it's a maintenance job you have sensible shoes on, unclear if you male or female but dress for walking not partying.
If it's a large employer, ask if they could run a session on - not sure what to call it! Not self-defence exactly, but something similar: safety consciousness.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
yeh, i m female. my concern is that its very dark sometime very quiet, and i get worried that someone could come out the wood with a weapon or something.0

Any history of attacks on people by someone lurking in that woodland? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
