Can I join too? With a £10k target please?
Have been lurking for a while now... finally decided to join and challenge myself...
Wishing everybody good luck with their targets!0 -
Just switched current account from First Direct to HSBC for the 5% savings account. I was debating between M&S and HSBC but decided I would rather have money than vouchers with the new customer offer. I already have a business account with HSBC so that makes applying/acceptance a whole lot easier too.

Many thanks for the information on TSB. As a new customer I think I should qualify for the higher rate and say Wentthedaywell I can set up a standing order to pay £500 in and then straight out again. I have a TSB near me - so I can pop in and check. Many thanks.
TSB are dropping their rates next week, I thinks its going down to 3% on £1500, just worth considering as it wont be 5% for long.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. Can I put myself down for £7,000. My circumstances have changed, so really not sure I can get anywhere near there at the moment, but am looking to change things.0

Drops to 3% next week. See here for list of best current and Regular Saver accounts
This is a really helpful link/thread so thanks for posting Ecomiser. It contains another link which is also super helpful http://www.bankaccountsavings.co.uk/. This calculates which combination of high interest and RSA accounts to put your money in to max out on the interest rates.0 -
I've just applied for a new credit card with the AA. It's interest free for a good while and with a £50 cashback if you spend £500 soon after getting it.
I'm buying new sofa in the sales so makes sense to do it on the new card and put the money away every month into a savings account till I have to clear it. I must make a note when this is though!
My M&S card can be closed. I only got it for the points but they are rubbish now, I never shop for clothes there, and there are only so many chicken kievs one can buy!Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

WOW, late again. I hoped to be higher up the list this year than last years #114 lol
Can I please play again, loved the challenge and motivation last (this) year.
I would like to start with the same original target of £6,000 and hopefully will be able to increase it as I did this year.
Thanks again slowly fading, you do an amazing job xxSave £8,000 in 2023 #10: £49,148/ £8,000 :j0 -
What budgeting systems does every one use? I use YNAB religiously, its really helped to pull in the purse strings.
I track everything in YNAB but am finding it too easy to change the budget to what I've actually spent. I think I need to watch the rule about rolling with the punches again - it doesn't mean spend all my savings when things are tight later in the month!
I am ending this year without debt which is a huge improvement for me from a few years ago but no savings either. I need to squirrel my savings for this challenge away safely next year and not spend them!
Anyone use any other good budgeting systems apart from YNAB?
I just opened a N@tionwide Fl3x Dir3ct for the 5% interest on the first £2,500 although you have to pay in £1,000 a month to get that rate.
Happy new year wishes everyone!0 -
Hi can I join in too?
I'd like to aim for the full £12K - I managed to save £700 each month last year and hoping I can do better in 2017!
Long time lurker on the threads and decided today to officially join the forum.0
