The "Save 12k in 2017" Thread!

  • #047 reporting for the final month of December 2017 with a sun of £1193.10 the highest amounts of savings for the whole year (although not directly down to my efforts!).

Total amount saved in 2017 is therefore: £6208.93.

Unfortunately I fell short of my initial target of £7,000 by £791.07. It's annoying because with a bit of a better plan at the start I may have been able to make up that amount but this challenge has certainly kept me honest and put me in a good frame of mind going into 2018!

Thanks slowlyfading for sorting all of this!

Happy new year everyone :) No 89 reporting £2423.51 for December. A bit late reporting as have been at work over Christmas and new year and not had time before. Congratulation to Slowlyfading on your new baby and thank you for all your work running this thread :) See you on the 2018 thread soon for next update :)

  • Just to update for November and December to complete the year's spreadsheet.

I saved £0 on both months.

As I had reached my savings goal in October, so we put some money towards a few DIY jobs in the house and renewing some of the fixtures and fittings. Also paid for Christmas from my salary so I didn't have to touch my savings for that.

    Well chuffed.

Thanks to all on this thread for the motivation over the last year and to Slowlyfading for doing all of the running around that goes with it.

Update for November was + £325.31 and December was - £620.28. I would have broke even (and then some) but we've booked a trip to Australia so as you can imagine that stalled the savings quite a bit!!

    Total: £8507.30 for 2017 - on to 2018!!

  • Apologies all for having been MIA for a few months. It's been nuts. I ended the year with 9564GBP instead of 15k (BOO!).

However, a pay rise + a nice bonus payment will help this year hopefully. So I have quite ambitious goals. I'll be joining the challenge if ok too?

Can I be put down for 20k this year please?

    THANK YOU!!

Bit late to the party, but is it ever too late to update? Been AWOL for a bit.

#153. Genuine total for the 2017 challenge was £7834.27 which was just over half of my goal. It was an expensive year! By my calculations the final, final total therefore came to just over £1.3m
