You were greedy, you waited too long, and you misinterpreted the political signals. Stick to trackers and savings accounts IMO.0 -

What's your strategy regarding shares? If you see volatility ahead will you be timing g the market more?0 -

Waited too long? Our equity is £1m more than when you first started telling me to sell. I don't do savings accounts when they don't pay anything (allowing for inflation). I already have plenty in trackers, and after the current sale goes through (April) I will have more in my trackers than I have in investment property!Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

I am guilty of wavering on this subject, half of me thinks that this is an opportunity, and the other half thinks that I shouldn't tinker, and that I should just settle for the guaranteed dividend income. I can't pretend my 'strategy' is anything particularly clever, but what I have done this month is moved (currently) just over £215k into cash within my ISA/SIPP (I can't do it outside of wrappers because of CGT). I'm only targeting about £10-15k per annum, it is just a bit of fun really. I already have buy orders placed to re-invest with that £215k, so I am hoping the ftse dips a little further. My dividend income is paid every 3 months, so I am trying to sell and buy back within those 3 month windows.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Wow your figures are way beyond anything I can imagine. Fair play to you - I can only assume you managed to get a very well paid job to get started out?I am insane and have 4 mortgages - total mortgage debt £200k. Target to zero = 10 years! (2030)0 -

A fairly well paid job, plus I have usually burned the candle at both ends when I was younger, by running businesses whilst working full time.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
So in a global world why would you want to live, drink or even make robots in London?
Robot businesses will be attracted to London because the best robot designer talent will be concentrated in London.
People in lower paid job (bus drivers, barristas, waiters, retail workers) will go to London because of the high number of jobs because of the concentration of higher paid people.
If this isn't right tell me why (I'm one of few who actually listens).
Tell me why this will change and why.0 -

Whether the half dozen or so landlords and highly leveraged/bubble price property owners that post on here listen or not is of no consequence to me, this is pure entertainment all the way :T
The media (and reality) long ago took over from where the HPC website started. You seem to hope that "Robotics" will just replace "Finance" and the London bubble can continue? Problem with that is that robotics steals jobs, it doesn`t create them, the numbers needed to design robots are tiny compared to the banking sector, and the work could be done anywhere, and once a design is complete the actual work can be offshored, plus things like bus drivers will be a thing of the past if robotics takes off (it won`t IMO) London will have to take it`s medicine from the Brexit/Trump world, robotics isn`t going to save the day.0 -

A global world means global cities and London is one of the best. Maybe one day, the defacto capital of the free world once again.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -

My provisional buys were just activated, so I am fully invested again, if the market goes back up to (haven't made my mind up) I will sell another £100k , and if it goes up after that, I'll do it again. I didn't make a lot, only just under £1,200, but it is only a bit of fun.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0
