What marital status am I?

Sorry for a potentially dumb question but I want to get this correct!
I am starting a new job in January and have to fill out a form with all my details on, address, bank details etc.
One of the questions is marital status.
I live with my partner but we are not married.
So, do I put Single or Co-habiting? Or living with partner? Or something else that I haven't thought of?!

Or N/A, as they don't actually need to know
(unless you were married and could do some tax-swapping thing, but other than that I can't think of any reason why an employer needs to know that)

it's useful for employers to know as there may be times you need time off to support your partner through illness for example, but what you put is entirely up to you.0

I'd say co-habiting is the most accurate but strangely it's missing from most forms. Im in the same situation as you but generally put single in this case, even though it doesn't describe my situation at all.0

Co-habiting if that's an option, otherwise single.0

Thank you all.
Unfortunately there was no list of options, just a blank box for me to fill in
I think I'll put co habiting (hate that expression!) as that best describes me, or living with partner (also hate the word 'partner' :rotfl: )
Maybe I should just get married :rotfl:0 -
I feel for you, I had the same problem for ages and could realistically tick most of the boxes.
Divorced
Single
Living with another partner.
Like you I hated that 'partner' thing, dont like 'other half' either.
Got married last year so problem over now.0 -
I think your answer could be important. Some employers have death in service benefits and your rely may reflect who they refer to as next of kin in any difficult circumstance.0

Yes they do offer life insurance at 4 x my salary
It also asks for 2 Emergency Contacts, I'll put my partner as the 1st one so maybe I should put Co-habiting in the marital status other wise they might think 'hang on she's put single but there's a partner in her emergency contacts'0 -
If you are not married you are single. Cohabiting is still single because you are not married.0
