Speeding fine for imaginary speed?

  • Speeding fines are a form of idiot tax - only idiots pay them.

I for one are quite happy for revenue to be raised from idiots.

If it was unused, why was it moved?

Go and read up on why cameras get moved, a little education would do you good.

    Wrong, try again.

Constable, I'm sure you can quote the relevant law and all that, but the fact is, motoring offences are not criminal offences, hence you don't have to disclose them on a job application. :o You should know this better than me, I'm not the copper, you are.....

Give me a break!!! CRIMINALS beat up old ladies.

True, don't expect the police to turn up though. Well, maybe a day too late :rotfl: Police have got a knack of turning up just afterwards ;) Less paperwork that way.

I know why they get moved.... to keep motorists on their toes, and to raise some quick cash when it's needed.

That said, all abuse aside. I am aware why cameras are installed, and it's usually based on the amount of RTA's, injuries, etc, averages all that..... yeah I get it.... that's fine for a static camera.

None of that applies for mobile cameras. They're just to pay for your bar tab, am I right Constable?

When I passed the van both my car speedometer and the app said I was doing 37 (in a 40 area). They say I was doing 47! Which is complete fiction.

What speed you were doing as you passed the van is irrelevant. It is what speed you were doing at the point he pinged you that matters, possibly up to 1000m away depending on sight lines.

Why not say it for a third time? You'll still be wrong.

When is the law 'on-your-side' exactly? When you haven't committed a crime, but someone else has and you need the police to actually do their job. Ironically, the police should work without prejudice, so the fact I have a low opinion of them should not prevent them from doing their job.

That said, my experience of the right side of the law is, it doesn't work. You might as well sort it yourself.
