This has really annoyed me this V21 Tarrif.
I'm on V19 with a Smart Meter, The Smart Meter isn't compatible with any other. So either I stay and move to V21 and pay 25% extra on my bill to continue with the Smart Meter or move companies and start the whole waiting and having to have another smart meter installed.
You would think after spending money on installing my smart meter and readers EON would freeze the price so I don't move.
Absolute madness.
Equally as mad is the fact that E.ON have steadily enhanced their brand through excellent customer service and competitive tarrifs but in one fell swoop, ie v21, all of this is being tossed to one side. I hope the reps here can convince their management that hard won support is easily lost and very difficult to regain.
Spinning wheels with frozen dolls are generally of no interest to the cash-strapped customer to whom bottom line cost is everything.
Malc to the rescue please! The opportunity for a marketing coup is in your hands.

I was 'invited' to change from v20 (which I'd recently switched to after my v19 ran out) - to v21 - exactly the same tariff price, but I'd lose my Tesco Reward Points feature..... AND they won't 'switch alert' me either (which is VERY suspicious!) - ummm tempting.... but no thanks!!!! E.On lately just hahahaha0

Hello Downward and welcome to the Forums.
You can still change supplier even though we've fitted a smart meter. The new supplier will take this on. You may lose some of the Smart functions and might need to read it manually. Also, the display will no longer show usage in pounds and pence although they'll continue to give this in kWh. The new provider will be able to advise more as different suppliers are at different stages with the smart meter roll out.
This is only temporary until all suppliers use a centralised database. This will be through the Data Communications Company (DCC) and they'll look after the Smart network for all suppliers. This includes passing meter readings to the current supplier. Not sure when this will be in place but the aim is for customers to be able to switch supplier without losing smart capability.
Hope this is of interest Downward.

yeah - although not E.On's fault - the DCC smart meter system has been a total fiasco from the moment it was announced - delay, after delay, on top of yet more delays - you couldn't make it up..... April, then summer, then Oct, then Dec then....then....then....0

Add to it the ongoing delay to Project NEXUS which is designed to make, inter alia, IGT gas transfers easier. When I last looked, it was due to go live in October 2015 but it now looks like a target date of late summer 2017.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. No pressure then Lord Baltimoreand, yes, we've been giving steady feedback as to Forum sentiment following the release of not just the Fixed 1 Year version 21 tariff but other recent products too. Additionally, we've reported on the impact of competitions like Spin the Wheel.
Can't promise anything but the feedback we've given so far certainly contributed to the decision to review our products as we look to redesign our portfolio for next year.
Sorry I can't offer anything more concrete at this stage but will keep flagging up these and related issues. Developments will appear on our website first.
Hope this is of interest Lord Baltimore.

What is all this fuss about so called smart meters I still have the 2 old "dumb"! meters, I give regular monthly readings on line (takes less than 2 minutes) get revised up to date account balance information instantly, all from E-On, but this might change unless they produce a better tarrif come February..
Would the installation of a smart meter with the monitor save me money on my useage of gas and electricity? I think not, over the years I have become very MSE trained in the economical use of gas/electric.
I am very much aware that if I turn up the central heating I will use more gas also if I use the tumble dryer I will use more electricity. But there is more to life at my age than to constantly check a monitor to see my useage :beer:0 -
Malc I presume you have masses of customer now in the last 30 odd days of V19. I cannot remember when it was withdrawn so do not know when the final customer is affected.
Any new portfolio presumably has to be pretty quick as the amount of departures increase from a trickle to a surge.0 -

That's right Dr Hu, Rewards and Price Alerts aren't available on our Fixed 1 Year version 21 tariff. They do apply to version 20 so, as you've signed up for alerts, you'll have received an email to let you know a new version of your tariff has been released.
This is another part of our ongoing product review as we look to invest in tariffs more suited to our customer's needs. We're looking to take lessons from this trial to better understand the appeal of things like Rewards and Price Alerts. Although we realise these tariffs and offers won't interest everyone, we're looking at the wider impact across our entire customer base. It's all a bit experimental at the moment and will become clearer next year.yeah - although not E.On's fault - the DCC smart meter system has been a total fiasco from the moment it was announced - delay, after delay, on top of yet more delays - you couldn't make it up..... Take your point on this Dr Hu. Hopefully more positive news in the New Year.

Thanks for letting us have your meter readings so regularly FOREVER21 and glad you find the 'Real Time Billing' tool useful. I agree, too, smart meters and displays by themselves won't save energy. They're useful, though, in raising awareness of what's being used and, hopefully, encourage people to save.
