How much would EU citizenship be worth to you?

£1000 per yearit may or may not make sense to pay 1,000 per annum when you want to go live in spain, but makes no sense to pay in advance just in case you may, one day, wish to live there
Who's to say the offer to take up EU citizenship would still be available in a decade or two?
No chance I'd let that slip through my fingers if it were offered now...
As someone that has lived abroad for much of my life, and understands fully the cost and hassle of doing it through work visas or via hugely expensive non-citizen retirement routes, I am fully aware of the extraordinary value retaining the right to live internationally as a citizen of the EU represents.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

its all hypothetical, so even if you paid today, whose to say they won't change the rules in a decade or so so you have paid 10k for nothing?
in any event I can't see many 20 years old paying 1k for 40 years just in case they want to retire to spain0 -
Nothing at all. I'm perfectly happy, isolated in little englandThe_Last_Username wrote: »Am I alone in thinking that this poll isn't quite going the way that the OP hoped it would go?
With over 74% so far not wanting to pay.
And why should they?
After all, no one has yet put forward any reasonable argument as to why exactly paying for an EU citizenship would be desirable or what these "benefits of EU citizenship" would be that are so desirable.
Seems to have spectacularly back fired on him.0 -

Always useful for the little englanders to just identify themselves all in one place...
Saves so much time in debates later on.;)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I guess there are some people who are only comfortable around white christian peoples and so feel the need to insult other, more liberal people, with racist remarks
does you no credit.0 -

Hardly little Englanders if an individual doesn't feel the EU citizenship is worth paying for. More like you're just trolling.0 -

I'll join the Irish passport crowd as well !
My wife should qualify for an Italian one as well, so relatively easy for us mercifully0 -
Yup, I've been to North America, Africa, Asia, and all were harder than visiting Europe from a border control POV.
My point is not that it'll be harder to travel to Europe than, say, Morocco, btu that it'll be just as hard (and harder than it used to be), unless we keep freedom of movement.
Yes, and how many of these other places that people are citing can we currently drive to? Taking a car over a truly foreign border is a whole new can of worms compared to going through the Eurotunnel to France!0
