This might explain why they are now showing as the cheapest Feb 18 dual fuel deal for me. Clearly, they are hoping that the bulk of the SoLR customers will stay.

No cheaper tariffs for me and Co-op Fix For Longer February 2018 - 22nd on the CEC list for me.
Fred - Where's your get up and go?

Barney - It just got up and went.

    Carpe diem
  • Like many others I left GB Energy, (on Nov 3rd) after their price hike, with a credit balance of £220.

After listening to Martin's Radio 5 interview about the real possibility of having to suffer the loss of my credit balance I decided today to make some phone calls. First, I rang my new energy supplier, EDF energy. They said they would not be crediting my account and instead referred me to Citizens Advise Consumer Helpline (03454040506). The news from the chap I spoke to was more promising. He advised that the new supplier Offgem appointed would be paying back any credit balances even for customers who have left. I thought I would ring GB Energy to see what they had to say. I got through very quickly - less than a minute - and the advisor I spoke to said the same thing. He explained that it was going to be a waiting game (for Offgem to appoint new supplier). He was unable to say who would be paying out the refunds, them or the new supplier or when that would be, but was confident it would happen.

I'm keeping everything crossed for a good outcome. Hope this helps

How much notice is required when cancelling a direct debit, 1 working day?

I asked Santander this question a couple of days ago. They advised it is best to do it more than one working day in advance if possible as "companies can sometimes 'request' the payment five or six days ahead of the due date which means it will then go out on the due date even if you cancel a day or two before".

If that happens after your cancellation - which it might - you just invoke the DD Guarantee and make an Indemnity Claim.

I know someone who works for co-op energy and based on what they've told me their IT problems have now been sorted and they've got big expansion plans. This is a big vote of confidence in them from OFGEM.

When I tried to get a quote off them Saturday afternoon and again Sunday the website just crashed, whether I used firefox, IE or chrome.

They were the only supplier in the cheap energy table I couldn't get prices from.

    Looking good then........:o
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I should have added that whilst it is the top of my listing on CEC, it is £103 per year more than I am paying at the moment (fixed until Nov/Dec 17).

Once they get 160,000 new & confused customers trying to contact them we really will find out if their systems are robust.

Just spoke to GB. Communication should be going out to customers tomorrow. The way he explained it seemed to imply that Co-op are essentially taking over the GB operation hence why tariff should stay same as per recorded message (though he could not 100% confirm that at present) and their staff getting retrained for Co-op systems etc. And that DD likely to just be switched over to Co-op name rather than needing to cancel. Anyhow nothing concrete yet until we receive written confirmation.

There are no cheaper tariffs for any of us - that's why GB have gone bust! They are the cheapest I can get now.
