Depends whether Co-op customer services can handle the extra traffic and whether their IT system can transfer the GB Energy database without any glitches. Plenty of things to go wrong if you ask me. But in principle the deal of staying on same GB Energy tariff is good, as long as they dont add any new t&cs.

Agreed. One of the most interesting missing bits is a statement about for how long the previous prices are going to be held.

Well, big props to co-op for doing the morally right thing. Ensuring peoples credit was safe, and I don't think anyone expected the prices to be honoured.

I know they've had their well-publicised issues for the past few years but they have been trying to turn things around. Likewise for their Energy brand.

I for one will stay put for the remainder of my fix (another 9 months), and if their service and prices thereafter remain competitive (not necessarily the cheapest), I'll carry on too. Very happy at this news.

Well if you want to leave at some point, the Co-Op has said that they will be no exit fees so if tariffs do go up (or change to your disadvantage) then you can get out without penalty fees. Unlike current Co-Op customers on fixed tariffs.

Yep, just says same tariff, nothing in terms of keeping same contract length. I can see the contract end date of Sept 2017 for Fixed 12 Crystal becoming a lot shorter.
  • Tremendous news:

    That coop taking over
    And honouring our fixed rates
And refunding us our credit balance.

Goes to show all the hot air about ofgem, nonsense about litigation against those that had cancelled dds, and that we would lose our balances and be forced to a 'big player' type of posts on here was complete rubbish.

    Very happy so far.

    Thank you Ofgem and Coop
  • Ofgem fined Co-op Energy £1.8m for poor customer service just over a month ago and now hands them 160,000 new customers.

The UK energy regulatory system is weird.

So are Co-op going to permanently employ GB Energy staff or on temporary basis.

Can anyone please tell me what the energy tariffs are for GB Energy?

    I'm on Premium energy Saver.

When I joined them in August 2016, they were : ---
    gas 2.783/unit and 21.36 daily s/charge
    Elec 10.028/unit and 21.368 daily s/charge.

I've had no communications from GB energy since August 2016, either by post or email. I haven't been asked for meter readings or been sent a bill or statement of account.

I wasn't even aware of the increases until the news that they went bust. I now know there have been increases in the tariffs, but I've never been informed how much they are.

Can someone tell me how much the increases were? And also, tell me if you are receiving emails from GB energy telling you ANYTHING at all?

    Thanks.
to find out the current GB energy tariffs I went on an competitors web site to get a quote and it list the GB tariffs you choose one and it will list the charges at the end of the quote all you need to then do is write down all the charges for each tariff in turn
time consuming but maybe worth it
No emails about going bust, just emails about my bill being ready and asking for meter readings

  • Does anyone know the name of the 12 month fixed contract that GBE were selling in March 2016? I'm trying to update my MSE Energy Club thing but on the drop down menu for GBE, the names of the tariffs are all different to the one on my sign up email (just states 12 month fixes contract, no fancy name)

What rate will I pay under my new contract?
    • There will be no change to your current tariff and you will remain on this until it is due to expire. We will of course contact you again before your current contract ends, with all the information you need
