broadband from today !

I am experiencing broadband for the first time ever today. Six or seven years with dial-up and it now seems like I'm having all my Christmas's in one go. Unbelievable how fast everything is. Throughout this last few weeks, I've been reading oodles of comments about ISP's that promise one thing or another and at times, fail to deliver. But for my personal usage, I look at it this way, £10 for dial up now £10 for BB, so who cares if along the way it slows down a bit now and again. For the moment I'm happy and advise anyone else to consider it.

yes, after a great deal of reading, mainly on this site, I elected to go for www.e7even.com my appetite had become "wetted" after doing research for my son who wanted BB to help him in his studies but at an affordable price.

You will be aware that of late, several ISP's have introduced "budget" tarifs, some have extra's that have to be paid for, some have "time" restrictions. This particular company, depending which package you choose, provide a free modem, free connection and thus far, no restrictions. It would be foolish to expect a "perfect" service, but, for the same monthly outlay, I now have a faster more efficient service.

Yes, there are downsides. 1) they request payment in advance, either 6month,12 or 24. plus any calls to the technical helpline cost £1 per minute. To offset this, I'm telling myself that "sod the money", and getting on with it, and of the phone calls, well if you read the threads on e7even, you will see there is someone who will readily give advice/information/support if asked. He has already helped me. Incidently, e7even have indeed rung me twice, saving myself the price of the call.

If like me, you are a surfer of any and everything, of sites that are recommended by others, of things of general interest, then go for it. This particular site will pay a referral fee of £20. to anyone that recommends a customer. If you would like to know anything else, then please ask.

I got 'connected' with them on Monday but still can't access the service and tech. support have been VERY slow in getting back to me. I didn't receive the CD so therefore don't have drivers.
    Humph!

The CD was missing. When tech. support phoned me today
at long last---I did everything he asked until he said to put in the CD. I asked what CD!!!
The young chap told me to go to http://safecom.cn to get the drivers, but there's nothing about drivers there so I'm still without the service!

Margaret, go to that safecom site again. Along the top are headings, at the right hand side is the heading "site map", clic on that.

Now you will find a list of items, scroll down to "Support" and there you will see Drivers. I beleive you should go from there.

BUT, I'm not comfortable that you should be doing that for yourself. If you are prepared to send me private details, I will gladly forward an email to e7even myself, stating in no uncertain terms that this unlooked for publicity they are getting on the internet, can do nothing for their good name and could possibly lead to the loss of proposed custom.

I'm on the net at 6.20am, and will be popping in & out all day, but have to go out for a couple of hours, so don't worry if I don't appear. My intention is that first of all, they phone and apologise, and SEND a disc by courier.

So if you made a Customer Service call to them for say 10 minutes it would cost you £10.Seems an expensive customer service operation to me,no matter how helpful they are.

Out of interest are they still using the address 27, Old Gloucester St,London,WC1.3XX in correspondence!!!

So if you made a Customer Service call to them for say 15 minutes it would cost you £15.Seems an expensive customer service operation to me,no matter how helpful they are.

There is an option to pay a small(ish) monthly fee for customer support on an 0845 number, and they also have free email support which has always been excellent for me (in fact I have to say that their support has been the best I have ever experienced from any company). I am not sure why Margaret has had problems with their support and it suprises me. I had a problem yesterday when my broadband dropped out (the second problem I have had in 9 months) and I emailed their support via dial-up. They emailed back some questions to which I responded and they immediately passed the problem to BT. Hey Presto the connection came back.
In my experience the problems seem to always be in the BT domain and the only problem with gooing for a broadband supplier other than BT is that you do not get (generally) to speak to BT.

The connection process is generally very straight forward and is explained in the email from e7even, and also there is more information at their website.
I will speak to Margaret later to try to help her further.
    To infinity and beyond!

Lots of people speak highly of them.
However i considered using them at one stage.I decided not to because they appeared to hide behind a mail forwarding address 27 Old Gloucester St.WC1 .3XX at the time.(Check it out on Google.) They also use 0870 and claim its a National Rate Call.(Which is against ASA Guidelines) and they wanted to charge me to have the benefit of calling an 0845 access no.

I personally dont deal with Companies that dont offer Geographical numbers freely.
