I assume you're one of the many people I see each day who thinks it's perfectly OK to just take a 'quick glance' at their phones?

What you describe in the first paragraph is not a 'quick glance' far from it.
Mobiles will tell you the number that is calling on the first screen, no need for any swiping or pressing of buttons. A quick glance is just that, a quick glance at the phone to see who is calling, I am not saying it is right and those caught have to take their punishment, as there is no way of distinguishing a 'quick glance' to what you describe.
Just if OP was genuinely taking a quick glance ie a quick look at the screen to see who is ringing with the thought to pull over and call back if it was the emergency call they were anticipating, they were unlucky.0 -
If your speedo shows 30, you're probably driving at about 27mph.
There are plenty of apps you can use to get your real speed. Just make sure you use the phone hands free!
Maybe but if my car shows 30 then those behind me will probably show 30 as well, at least some will and the amount of cars that catch me they can't all be showing under 30. Some will be calibrated under mine, some over.
When driving at my '30' I rarely catch up with the person in front.0 -
Having watched this family's video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkjRvsT8f5k and the devastating impact it's had... I'm sorry but even taking a quick glance and you're lucky to be facing a fine and points. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

Yes I have to say I stuck up for the OP as I know in some situations people are unlucky in these scenarios but you are right their comment was uncalled for,0 -
Boohoo. I was wondering how long it would be before the OP kicked off with the insults, it was pretty predictable.0

Eh? What does that even mean?0 -

True, but at the moment they don't know who to charge.
They will send a s172 notice to ask the registered keeper to name the driver, within a few weeks. AFAIK the 14 day limit for NIPs doesn't apply to use of a mobile phone.0 -
police were actually enforcing this?
I must pass 20 people a day on their phones on a 10 mile journey.0
