Why not apply for a fee-free account like the nationwide flexaccount, but without an overdraft. I would think this should be easy for you to obtain. Then look to upgrading in April to an account with the extras you need with the same bank, i.e. the flexplus0

Get another account set up - move the DDs after each one has left with the company, make arrangements for your income to go into the new one and within a few weeks you can notify Think to close the old account.
Admittedly it's alittle more work for you than the CASS but worth it in the long run.
Even if you don't get a current account, you should be offered a basic account which is free with online, branch or phone access and faster payments.0 -
Just an update guys, I applied for and was accepted for a joint First Account through First Direct. It was a bit drawn out, but in a professional way (two hours on the phone!...I cocked up the date of birth of my wife on the online application...whoops!). Just waiting for our account number and sort code etc and I can start to transfer all the direct debits and standing orders from ThinkMoney...Not sure how though as they have a standard call wait time of over an hour at the moment and I won't be waiting that long. I might just desert them
Thanks for all the advice!0 -

This made me chuckle as it's the type of thing my OH would do.Just waiting for our account number and sort code etc and I can start to transfer all the direct debits and standing orders from ThinkMoney...Not sure how though as they have a standard call wait time of over an hour at the moment and I won't be waiting that long. Not sure whether I'm misunderstanding this bit but you don't need to ring Think to move DDs, you can do it via the companies direct. A lot of them may allow this online now. As each DD is paid go to the company and amend it, this allows the company approx a month to update the details and DD mandate.
For SOs if you have internet banking there is normally a way to cancel SOs that way.
And finally a letter to them will close the account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. All of these services are quite convenient, so much so that if they were't so backwards in other areas and were more like a mainstream bank, I'd probably stay with them0
