If you say so.
You can't add anything to back up your comment and there's no reason why something that's been dealt with cannot be discussed. Most forces would take the opposite view to what you originally posted but as you seem update on police discipline regs maybe you could educate us.
Because the matter was resolved fully, informally and I have never had any reason to doubt the actions of any police officer again since.0 -

Which basically means you made a complaint, they did nothing about it and closed the matter. Thanks for clearing that up.
Well, the extra-curricular activities of the officer concerned stopped abruptly and my solicitor made it clear that I would have had a very strong case if I wanted to pursue it - but I chose to trust the assurances of the senior officer involved and my faith was rewarded. That was enough of a result for me.0 -

None of that back up what you said.0 -

Suggest you re-read the posts in question, Fat Walt was referring to the post by MrsTinks as rubbish not your contribution.0 -

let me tell you a story ...
As a 30 something year old boring middle manager bloke I used to drive a sporty Mondeo the V6 beast (it really wasn't) but for it's day quite fast, twin zorsts so it looked quite sporty.
I used to play chess for a club (yes sorry, told you I was boring) and one dark winters night playing an away match we could hear thumping bass music. I asked what it was and the local car cruiser boy racers had taken over a car park and arranged a meet right behind the social club where the serious business of chess was being played.
Upon leaving and joining a dual carriageway I slowed down and indicated to turn off left but the car behind closed right up and flashed me. I ignored him until at the last moment I realised the turn off had been bollarded off to stop people using it, so I cancelled indicator and continued straight on.
Car behind then overtook me and tried to pull level and look across - I could see him out of the corner of my eye, but as the next left turn was approaching - which was my best route home - I took it, I didn't look at the other driver to avoid any confrontation.
As soon as I turned the other car, which I realised was a small Vauxhall Corsa turned left too, from the outside lane of dual carriageway.
Oh dear, thinks I, this guy is pi55ed off at me for making him brake for the none turn off or something. I was also conscious that my less than 1 yr old flash Mondeo was a bit of a red rag to a bull where boy racers are concerned. I utilized the acceleration shall we say and left the Corsa some distance behind. Every time I pulled away there was a junction, or a bus stopped or whatever, I don't drive mad anyway but I wasn't keen to let the Corsa boys catch up and hassle me, so when the opportunity came I pulled away. This happened about 3 times, each time I left it behind and slowed up it caught me up.
I decided not to go straight home as I was obviously being followed, I turned into a street where I thought I could park up and wait but I must have been seen because the Corsa drove up and parked across the front of my car blocking me in.
Driver hopped out, pc in a uniform but open shirt, no jacket.
Him "Why are you driving like a !!!!?"
Me "Because someone in a Corsa has been following me for ages"
Him "Youv'e been to the car meet cruise - have you been drinking?"
Me "No I've been playing chess at the XYZ social club"
Him "Don't lie, you've been to the meet, I thought you were going to go mad and head to the motorway and (go flat out, can't remember how he put it)
Me "I've been playing chess, I'm not a boy racer and I only speeded up when someone in an unmarked car started obviously following me, I thought it was a road rage thing"
Him "If I had a breathalizer on me I'd be testing you."
Me "Well get someone to bring one down, I dont drink" (when driving)
Him "Next time keep your speed down, If I was on duty I'd be calling this in and getting the traffic boys to go over your car with a fine tooth comb, you were going far too fast."
Me "But you kept up with me, you saw me stop for every junction, slow when a bus was stopping etc, If I was driving too fast how did you keep up in that? (when he said off duty I felt a bit braver).
Him" You can't drive fast in that (pointed to Corsa) just keep the speed down in future...
And off he went.
With hindsight an off duty Bobby who thought he was onto something when he saw me pull away from the access road where the boy racers were playing and for whatever reason decided to hassle what he presumed was a young driver.
Just a tad off topic, but cops do sometimes do their own thing.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
None of that back up what you said.
I don't need to feel precious or defensive about it, do I?
And on a lighter note, I can also remember another officer, red faced and furious after huffing his way across a golf links early one morning, brandishing his warrant card, threatening all-sorts and ordering a group of disreputable looking bikers to get out of Dodge.
The traffic officers who had been assigned to them and the TV production company they were working for did not mince their words when it came to expressing a very low opinion of his bit of freelancing. He fairly slunk back to the club with his tail between his legs.
So some officers do get a bee in their bunnet about some things and do get carried away - Please dont try to kid us otherwise.0 -

Unfortunately, you've hit the motoring section of the MSE forums. Any other section, and you would have been fine.
This sort of petty bickering is quite common here. On the plus side, you haven't been accused of being an obvious troll, which is the other thing that happens to many new posters. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
