Hi
Due to shambolic billing from Vodafone over the last 2 bills, I cancelled my direct debit with them this week.
However there online chat people say they requested a payment on the 16th November 2016.....now I know that payment won't get paid because I cancelled the direct debit.
At what stage will Vodafone get notified of this ?
Up until yesterday afternoon they saying that nothing is owing
Thanks

They'll find out a few days later when the bank lets them know it went unpaid. Meanwhile, you'll only find out that you have a trashed credit record externally for the next 6 years when you apply for any form of credit - including a phone contract - though you are liekly to hear from their debt collectors in due course.
Basic rule - NEVER cancel a direct debit. I recommend you call them up and pay by phone immediately and hope it doesn't hit your credit files - though it's probably already too late.0 -
Vodafone are very quick to give you a default on your credit rating.0

What am I meant to do? Allow Vodafone to debit my account with various random amounts that don't resemble my bill?
My latest bill was 202.12. They have wrongly charged me a early termination fee on one of my lines...( agreed via webchat )
So credited back to jay account was 206.15 and a extra 20 pounds as a good will gesture ( all documented via webchat ) so my account should be in credit...
Ok, so I go online and double check with webchat people...
Ok they say a amount of 75.14 has been requested from my bank account ( where did that figure come from ) ....other amounts have been credited to my account....this will show within 24 hours..
My bank says, ( as of Saturday morning ) that they can see the direct debit has been cancelled....however Vodafone HAVE NOT requested any money under that direct debit..

Whilst I agree with you in principle....they cannot be allowed to bill random amounts without communicating with the customer0 -
Never had to test it myself but I have heard its easier to get the money from Vodafone than have to deal with getting you credit history corrected due to a direct debit being cancelled.
No they shouldnt be allowed to bill random amounts but this is Vodafone, Ive not seen as many threads about any 1 network detailing issues with the service etc.
How long is left on your contract ? Id leave as soon as its due to end.0 -
Got 2 contract left ( down from 5 )
Both sim only
One finishes min term in Feb and the other June.
To be honest I've had cracking deals with Vodafone over the last 2 years....its just there billing errors that are madness.0 -
If it were me I would leave them but its up to you, you have to weigh up the price/deal you can get against the hassle you get.0

Well I can't do anything at the moment whilst I am in contract.
One of the lines was unlimited.mins.texts and 20gb of data which included spoify premium for 20 quid a month.
I'm thinking that's a blinder of a deal as spotifty premium itself is a tenner a month.0 -
The only thing worth doing is to follow the constant advice on the main Vodafone complaints thread to contact the WRT. All else is liable to be a waste of time (at best) or more likely make it worse (as with cancelling the direct debit).0

Well I'm gonna get on webchat tomorrow and see what they say again..
According to the info I've been provided with...my account should be in credit....so how they've generated a figure of 75.14 to try and debit my account is beyond me.0
