    Someone bought the car for the plates, parks it up and buys shiny new plates whilst swapping the paperwork to their other vehicle.

    Driving around in their car with the new reg and shiny plates whilst the
    old cars sits there with the same plates on because they couldnt be bothered
    to swap them to the new ones supplied by the DVLA?

    So your checking the MOT status of their other car, not the one thats parked up?
