Virgin 3g to Virgin 4g via ?? PAYG network
Options
Currently paying £8 a month on Virgin mobile (3g) rolling 30 day sim only, now that Virgin mobile they have started offering 4g I'm looking to change to their £9 a month 4g package, I'm in now rush and thought I could get some cashback in the process porting out and back in again.
As I've not used a PAYG sim for quite some time I wanted to know what network would be the best one to port to that has the lowest minimum topup if any to activate the sim, use up the credit and then port back to Virgin mobile. All help and advice is appreciated.

Why don't you move to these people. Much cheaper! Only £7.50
and get some cash back too

Before you decide what to do, make sure that you are in a 4G-enabled area.
There are still large parts of the country not 4g-enabled.

PlusNet has advantages and disadvantages over Virgin. Virgin will allow you to roll unused data over from one month to the next and offers free messaging on whatsapp and Facebook. PlusNet gives you the facility to cap extra spending to avoid unwelcome bills. What's right for one person isn't right for another.0

I have good 4g coverage where I live.
Thanks for the info AndyPK I will consider Life/Plusnet, but as pmduk says all networks have their unique selling points, thankfully we have a choice and make a decision based on our preferences.Nearly debt free

You can probably haggle with Virgin if you ask for the PAC.
Have a look at the various offers available (on alternative providers) and I would expect some Black Friday /Chrimbo deals to come up too. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I had a bit of a go at haggling with virgin today, asking for my PAC and mentioning plusnet 4G
I wanted £2 off, they were willing to give £1 off.
They sold the data roll over feature (and whatsapp), but on reflection I think I will move to plusnet once there is some feedback as it will be alot cheaper.
The data can't roll over for ever can it? I better have a read.
EDIT:It couldn’t be simpler. Any data you don’t use this month gets added to next month’s data. You’ll use up this rolled-over data before you start eating your regular data, so nothing will go to waste.
Only unused data from this month can be rolled into next month0
