in Credit cards
Hello
My partner and myself are buying our first place and looking for a credit card that we can use for food bills etc and then pay off in full at the end of the month. We both have a llodys Avios credit card and now in order to make sure we are using the the right credit card for food bills I was thinking of getting the TSB Avios credit card as we do like Avios however if you think of a better idea I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance
Richard

I don't believe you can get joint credit cards (correct me if I'm wrong). You can be a cardholder on another person's credit card, but the responsibility for paying the bill lies solely with the person whose name the credit card is not, not any of the cardholders.0

You cannot get a joint credit card.
You can add an additional cardholder to your account but you remain liable for all of the spending on the account.
IMO it would be better to get separate cards to build up points - though whether you will be able to amalgamate them later on to get on the same flights might be difficult.0 -
As already said, joint cards are not available so you would looking at having a primary cardholder and additional cards holder.
If keeping food on a separate card isn't a deal breaker then either or both of you could add the other as an additional card holder to the cards you already have.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Thanks for the replies
As we both pay our credit cards off in Full each month (both Lloyd duo cards) and use them for more than just food such business travel for me and car expenses etc this would mean the DD would come out of the "bills" current account thus could get messy.
I understand that you have to have a sole user and then an added card user but was wondering under the above circumstances what card would be the best. Maybe the BA AMEX or the TSB AVIOS?
Or maybe there is a cash back card that is better?0 -
Any further advice on these?0

TSB have withdrawn their Avios. Although they do offer a platinum purchase card with 1% cashback on £500 of eligible spending and 5% cashback for apple/android pay.
Couple of other cashback/reward suggestions here too

If you meant "food, bills, etc" (rather than "food bills etc"), then the NatWest or RBS reward account might suit you better. £3 monthly fee, 3% back on the majority of bills paid by direct debit.0

Get a 0% purchase card in ONE of your names,
Then another in the OTHER persons names.
Just use them for what ever spending purposes you need.
Save the money, you haven't spent in some interest paying account,
to pay off the debt when it is due.
I use OH's card for certain purchases and vice versa, as no-one looks for a SIG any more as it is all " add pin or TAP "
Set up min DD payments on accounts or do it manually but do not miss
the min monthly payments0 -
Hi thanks for the tips. We were looking at an new account to pay direct debit and are looking at the Natwest account for this.
For the credit card it would be for Food bills and maybe joint spending like meals out etc and wanted to keep these separate from cards that we would use for personal spend.
We were looking at doing this with another Avios card so if there is a good one out there it would be great but if not I guess cashback it is.0
