"print filter pipeline host stopped working"

Options
HP Pavilion a6421.uk Desktop pc.

This error message appeared and all printing has stopped. Screen says "printing", but nothing shows on Brother DCP-135C. Pretty sure printer is OK. Someone suggested;
Start > services.msc > printer spool > rt.click > stop > restart PC, but that alters nothing.

Any ideas please. Lost without the print function today.

'status monitor' of printer shows "offline". Should it be "online" (surely ?). All the leads are connected

How is the printer connected ? USB or network ?

Try stopping and starting the spooler without rebooting the machine
(elevated command prompt , net stop spooler, net start spooler)

Failing that , as mentioned above, remove and reinstall the driver.

I can find the new/replacement driver, but how to delete the existing one ?

    Connected by USB.

Have started and stopped the spooler

Go into devices and printers, click on any printer in there
then you will see an option appear at the top saying "print server properties"
Click that, go to the drivers tab, find your driver in question and click remove,
choose the option to remove files aswell.

unplug the usb, right click on the printer and delete it

install your new drivers and then reconnect the usb

the only reference to 'drivers', is a "new driver" tab. But this is greyed out. Nothing there to removeexisting drivers.

I accessed by Contol Panel > Printers. That is what you meant, yes ? There is no reference to 'printers', in Devices Manager

In control panel, it is called "devices and printers"

Once in there, follow my instructions :)

In CP I have 'device manager' (nothing re printers in there), or 'printers'. Printer is shown there, but no option to delete drivers....... ?

Or do you mean delete the WHOLE printer , not just the drivers for it (or is that the SAME thing)

What version of windows are you using ?

In printers, FIRST CLICK ON THE PRINTER so it is highlighted,
Then, at the top of the screen you should see an option appear "print server properties"
