Vintage Cash Cow

  • I sent a big box of stuff off to them. I checked all the prices on eBay and was satisfied what I had was of so little value that it wasn't worth selling individually. I never actually received an offer because parcel force lost the parcel on the way there but vintage cash cow have seemed pretty helpful with the claims process so far lol.

Yes but i am talking specifically about Silver jewellery. Their offers are well below scrap silver prices. they claim to buy silver jewellery as items so how come their offer was far below the scrap value offered by a silver scrap buyer?

If you don't want to be ripped off. It's best not using this site. As soon as you accept the offer, theres no going back. Your items will not be returned even if you change your mind.

My items belonged to my mother. I stupidly accepted the small amount without thinking. When I tried to get a hold of them the same day. It was too late. Office closed.

I dropped a text. I got the reply that the company is fast paced. And my items have been sorted and sent out on the very minute I accepted. So its impossible to return them. I apparently should have said no the moment the person offered a price. (Terms and conditions are not in the booklet they send)

I was testing their service, to see if it was good or not. And some members of my friends and family are awaiting my feedback. Lets just say, they won't be trying the service out now. I am really disappointed.

I thought they return your item if you don't want the offer. I thought we had the freedom to change our minds IF it was within a reasonable time limit (a few days/ or at least 1.) But nope. Everything happens within seconds.

They claimed my items are not worth much. But they do have value.

I will be posting this experience in other forums. People should know. Don't get ripped off. And don't use this service. They just make a tonne of profit at your expense. (I say this for people like me who are using these services for the first time and don't know what to expect.)

If people still want to use. Carry on at your own risk. But know this, the amount you get is no way near amount they will make off your things. (I thought we would get at least half, I am aware that they make more, but did not know that customers would be offered a fraction only).

I was told my items are not worth much. But they still offered a price. If it wasn't worth anything. Why offer anything? My loss for accepting anyway.

I am sharing my experience so others know what their getting into and know what not to do, especially if your items have sentimental value.
If you have items that you don't mind giving away free, and mean nothing to you, then you won't be affected by any of this. But if you have items that meant something, VCC is not the place to go.

by the way Hollydays, my ebay experience is unrelated to this. Which happened in another time span all together. I don't know if you read my comments carefully, But I have already put the disclaimer that in both situations I am at fault for 1. accepting VCC and 2. refunding a customer, and my item was as described, it was dazzling, maybe that's why the customer didn't return it, Anyway in both cases I was new to the scene.

I am both newbie here and to life, unfortunately. Maybe age will make me wise?

best wishes everyone and you Hollydays, I'll be permanently signing off.

I have used them and was very pleased with the service. I can see why they might not have been able to help you if you changed your mind as the items may have already been sent off to wherever or broken up etc. Did they not talk about sentimental value with you? When they phoned me with my offer the first question they asked me is whether there is any sentimental value attached to the goods. They told me they understood if people changed their minds and said they wanted to check I was still feeling happy about my decision.

I found them a very professional and helpful company to deal with. Obvious they are not going to be paying full market value like all companies of this kind so you do need to do your research before choosing what to send them.

But not forgetting that one of their staff posted on here.
She later removed all her posts , and got her ebay name removed but couldn't remove my quotes..once she'd been rumbled..Not professional..
I also had a private message from someone who told me my observations were spot on

In fairness, if you took stuff into a charity shop then changed your mind and went back I'd expect it to be gone too.:(

You accepted their price ,in your review you even say you asked for the cheque, how can you now claim they ripped you off?
Of COURSE your items are worth more than you were offered- just how much more was up to you to find out - accept the offer or refuse it.

You could have gone away and double triple checked with other people , and got back to them, but you chose not to.

I also see you tried to sell some jewellery on eBay which was claimed to be not as described. You then refunded that money before it had been returned and lost out there. You had your fingers burned there so decided to put the work onto someone else as the easier way out.

    In both cases-take responsibility .:)

When I was researching them prior to sending I did notice that they were rather aggressive with their PR. It all seemed a bit unnecessary given that there is certainly going to be a market for what they are offering without them going that far. I did feel my transaction went very smoothly and was handled very well and what I was offered is what I was expecting. You do need to research your items when you use a company like this and if I had had a pricey item I would have sold it myself.

I spoke to,them on the phone once, I can't deny their frontline staff are very polite and charming.

However, it is time consuming to do proper research to identify " exactly what you have got"

Auction houses offer free valuations , so there's not really any excuse ,for the ops rant, unless you don't have transport to get to them or can't be bothered.

I sold some jewellery for a friend and visited two auction houses, one jeweller ( recommended by a friend who's an expert) and put some on eBay in the end, and some into the auction houses. It took a lot of time and effort, parking fees and petrol.

I think there's something lost in translation there.
They weren't lying, you are misconstruing the phrase.
