Utilities Reporting

I have utility accounts with E-on (electricity) and British Gas (Gas + Paid monthly Homeserve cover).
Neither of these accounts appear on my Experian credit report.
I wish to ask the following question to those who have accounts with the same providers:
Is this normal (as perhaps these utility providers do not report to Experian) or are your accounts showing on your Experian credit report.
This question is asked specifically in relation to Experian.
Thank you

    Good morning Ben8282

ashp is spot on here, we do report to Equifax, we don't report to any other credit reference agencys.

    Hope that clears things up.

    Thank you

Both these companies hit you with credit reporting. Be careful that they don't compromise your ability to get credit by malicious reporting; utility companies are noted for it and British Gas are by far the worst. If you're with a reporting company you really need to get the CRAs' reports about you on a monthly basis, just to be on the safe side.

I have a BG account that was closed in Feb 2014 and that is reported on my Experian report.

All I can say with certainty is they used to.

  • BG wrongly reported a late payment on my account after sending me an email saying wait until a consolidated bill arrives as i had credit with gas and debit with electric and then pay it.

i did that and they marked my file as late. I complained and provided the emails and they corrected, but imagine i didnt spot this!

Precisely. And bear in mind the vast majority of people wouldn't spot this. Most people don't even know about credit reference agencies. I wonder what the true figure is concerning declined credit as a result of malicious reporting?
