So....When are the Christmas decorations going up?

Both me and OH love Christmas. We have a real tree so won't be buying that until maybe 2 weeks before Christmas.
We normally put our decorations up around mid December but have decided this year to put them up on 1st December. We have so many decorations - bought some new ones this year - that's it seems a shame to only have them up for a short time.
I love to see outside decorations although we don't have any apart from lights in our tree. Lots of our neighbours have them though and we love to walk the dog round the streets looking at them all. One neighbour always has a really good display and collects money for the local hospice. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
I love the run up to Christmas but I do think it should start in December. It spoils all the magic dragging it out too long.
I love all the parties and the Christmas markets. I love mulled wine and mince pies and all the pretty decorations. I love having time off work and the atmosphere in the last week before Christmas; it's the only time everyone is off together and everyone is more relaxed. I like having time off to just spend at home and with family. Annual leave the rest of the year gets used on holidays,so it's nice to spend some time at home.
Ours go up the second week in December. They come down on boxing day though, the clutter starts to annoy me quite quickly when it's in my house!0 -
Churches are full on Christmas eve, midnight mass - and Christmas morning. Rest of the year = empty. The opposite of what you know...is also true0

It's the same with weddings, people marry in church and never go. I often think vicars must get annoyed by it, but the truth is churches would probably be closed without them.0 -
I think you will find Jesus, does not require tinsel decorations to be put up at all.
2 years we were on cruises just before Christmas , and did not return home until just before Christmas day, so we had no decorations at all.
Still celebrated Christmas as it should be celebrated , and not with the secular hoo ha that now takes over from November onwards.0 -
Ours will all go up first weekend in December. It will be our first Christmas in our new bungalow so Mrs Indout has spent a fortune on new decorations and we are out shopping for more this weekend.
I love the decorations part but would rather skip the presents bit (no hope there LOL)Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

Funny, the one I attend isn't empty the rest of the year. I'd be surprised if it was the only one.
It's certainly full enough for us to justify adding central heating, toilets and proper catering facilities over the last few years.0 -
And this is why I always said it would be hypocritical for me to marry in church. Now husband agreed. My mum was sad we didn't but understood. BIL did though and hence vicar kept visiting until nephew was booked in to be christening (small yorkshire village!)dirty_magic wrote: »It's the same with weddings, people marry in church and never go.
