No decorations, just a tree. Probably mid December.

Last year we were all ill with flu so only got tree up a few days before xmas, and year before wife was looking after me after chemo.

This year now we're settled in new house we're going to be one of 'those' families with a ridiculous amount of tat, fake snow and lights outside - enough to give the neighbours opposite a tan. Our neighbours next door will be putting on a similar show judging by their halloween decorations - I've told them we'll be giving them competition.

I despise religion as much as the next sane person, but I love xmas time and I'm doing it for the kids, besides, its Santa's birthday.

1st December they're going up, as is my electricity bill.

We will be making an effort this year as we have relatives visiting from Australia and they like a traditional Christmas. I'm hoping for at least a foot of snow too.

Just to balance the Godless evangelists on here, we will be going to church on Christmas eve and Christmas day, although I doubt that we will manage to do three services like we did last year down under.

When we were kids (50+ years ago), I can't remember all this fuss months before Christmas Day.

Our tree usually goes up on the weekend before Christmas Day so this year it will be 17th Dec. By the 3rd Jan I'll be fed up of it and it will be back in the loft until next year.

There will be lights on the tree, no lights outside.
No santas on trains or in helicopters - where on earth has this ridiculous idea come from?

Christmas tree will go up on Christmas Eve , if I get around to it

I've loads of beautiful decorations collected over the years, yet as I get older I'm less inclined to want to put them out

We don't do the madness of Christmas at all really. We have a turkey dinner, use the best dinner service, enjoy a glass or three, fall asleep in front of the fire :)

The best bit of the day for me was being in the kitchen prepping dinner, listening to Stewpot on the radio and singing along to those old family favourites Not going to be the same this year at all

I don't really decorate at home (love other people's decorations but can't do with them in my own space - plus the cat couldn't be trusted!) I have a couple of small pieces that go on the mantelpiece, they'll come out mid-December.

I'm a Christian, and advent is one of my favourite times of year.

We'll probably put ours up 2nd week of December. I absolutely adore Christmas and there really is no limit to how much tat and how many lights you can put up. One of my OH's proudest moments was last year when he overheard a little girl say to her dad "Why can't we decorate our house like that?" as they walked past ours.

I'm the only one in our house who seems to give a hoot if there are decorations, but the things the lads made in primary that I have hoarded & cherish & I have a (January 04) bought artificial tree to hang them on.

Youngest was given a set of lights (shaped like little cars) that I put up around his bed each year (til he moved on from a bunk) - they'll be got out, checked & strung somewhere for me to enjoy (& him, though he rather eat a stale mince pie [if he could find one] than admit it.)

I do Advent with my mum - I sent her a photo every day of Christmas Things. Sometimes the grandsons cooperate - holding things for me, or Even standing & smiling, but she & I know better than to hope too much for that. Cherubs they ain't.

The one upside as far as the family can tell is it makes me move all the dead cuttings off the front windowsills. (And as soon as the decorations come down, the slow-to-germinate stuff can go out!)

I've bought another tree though. With roots. A Bramley Apple. If I can get that into the earth & it lives long enough, I may hang a few shatterproof baubles from it...
