Mix of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle - spray and wipe off!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Put a simple squidgy in the shower and instruct every user to wipe the water off the glass after their shower. Descaling is hardly necessary if you really do it everytime.
Works great on ours and we have very hard water.

I keep a solution of vinegar and water in an old bathroom cleaner squirty bottle - when I've finished in the shower, wipe down with a cloth to get rid of the moisture already on there from your shower; spritz with HM "cleaner", quick wipe off with a cloth.

Once a week, after spritzing ... dry/buff up with a piece of old newspaper.

It's not just the product you use which will make the difference - it's the routine of actually doing it which is most often the defining factor.#

Even if you don't use a solution daily - simply wiping off the water generated by showering will make a difference and you could then just "clean" it once a week.

Can anyone tell me what to use to get the water marks of the shower glass doors, its a grained glass and I used the shower stuff, doesn't work, we do use a squeegy but it still has really bad water marks that I cannot get off?

Limescale remover of some type - Cillit Bang and Limelite both work well. However, if you're going to use them, get a decent mask from a DIY shop, because in a confined space like a shower, they are awful! Open all the windows, put mask on, hold breath and spray like a demon, then bolt!
Leave for a few minutes, then clean with one of those bathroom scouring sponges.

Non-chemical option is to use vinegar, but you'll need to leave for longer, and will probably need a few treatments. Once you've got it off, a spray of vinegar and use of the squeegee each time it's used should keep it looking reasonable.

If you ever change the shower, get a frosted enclosure - hides a multitude!

If everything fails try vinegar. Always a good one to rely on...

I agree with tawneyowls - Cillit Bang is the only thing I've used that works on our shower door. I use vinegar for everything else.

Instead of buying expensive shower sprays fill a spray bottle with water and a decent squirt of washing up liquid. It leaves the glass sparkling and helps to prevent misting. Hope this helps someone and their hard earned pennies.

PS I mean as a leave on spray, not to clean with.
  • Thanks for that I will give it a go, have been trying homemade shower sprays without much success
