Need a little advice

  • In your shoes I'd cancel both Vanquis and Marbles (unless Marbles comes with a limit anywhere near Capital One). You don't want £500 limit cards showing on your credit report...it tells other lenders searching your file that these companies don't trust you!

I think the max limit for any new customer for a Marbles card is £1,200 but I may be wrong. The idea of getting a Vanquis and Marbles card was I thought I could build these cards up after 5 or 6 months. Sorry if it sounds like i'm doing things wrong but I did not know what else to do. Your probably thinking also that if I have had the Capital One card for 18 months and the limit is now £1,950, then why not go for a much better card :) The answer is that I am disabled and not working so to some lenders I am a bigger risk. I applied for a Tesco credit card 24 month interest free but it got declined because I was £6 under their criteria because they could not take my ESA into consideration which was quite annoying. If I had got it there would be no need for these other cards.

    Who do you bank with?

Cap One, Vanquis, Marbles are all CC only providers.

You may be better running the Cap One for a while sensibly then asking your bank. You won't have to do an application with them until they say you are eligible to apply. (don't mistake this conversation as being guaranteed to be accepted) but a conversation with your bank will not put a footprint on your CR. So it's sort of like a 'heads up' type of thing.

  • I bank with Halifax so I might leave it a few months now and try and build up a history with the 3 I already have and then pop in and see them.
