Seems as if you are simply looking for an excuse to get angry. I never used the word paradise to describe the NHS. I will however say that running a healthcare service is very expensive. The fact that the UK offers a free service is something that I'm proud of.

I'm angry that you you don't even live in the UK and yet spout such nonsense. If you did you could become a Governor of an NHS trust. At least contribute positively to society rather sit where you are moaning.

    Hello Thrugelmir,
I don't need an excuse to get a very angry about the British NHS.
    BUT
You are correct the word paradise was ill thought out. I was just responding to a very crass statement and it brought me down to their level.
I sit it here (in Luxembourg) fuming and feeling helpless as foolish people talk to me about coming to Britain to get good/excellent medical treatment.
You have no idea what other European people say about medical treatment in the UK.

    Anecdote.
When my wife (to be) came to the UK in 1983 her best friend (who had lived in the UK for three years) said to her "if you take ill go straight to Heathrow and fly home. That was OVER 40 years ago. Do you think the NHS has got better in that time!
I can only say that the advise given to my wife in 1983 is still the advise given in 2016.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

This actually has nothing to do with the OP. Are you now relying on Jeremy Corbyn to sustain your handouts?

    Deflection again.....

Incidentally, I do not receive handouts, I am one of those net contributors who fund the handouts, from income not wealth.

I am also one of those who accept that handouts are a necessary part of a decent society, whatever you might think of me. That is handouts to the old and the young based on need.

I am not relying on Jeremy Corbyn to do anything for me. But I do recall in 1985 Neil Kinnocks speech to Conference in which he said "Comrades, you cannot play politics with people's lives". The real losers will be those who are relying on Corbyn to get elected. They will just see Momentum playing politics with people's lives.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

Doctors, Engineers, Paramedics, Teachers, Architects, all do positive things for society.

Sorry I don't understand your post

A complex system like a Health Service clearly has many aspects by which we could measure it to determine whether it is "best", "worst" or somewhere in between.

I'm not sure that your anecdotal evidence is all that useful, being 40 years old, based on hearsay, and based on perception from someone who's credibility as a critic is unknown.

And does your income come from actual income, or is it, ostensibly, a fiscally gerrymandered handout that you pay tax on?

    There is a difference.

There are far more undeserving rich in Britain than there are self made philanthropists.

No. Obviously fiscal gerrymandering only benefits some people at the expense of others.
