"There are too many pigeons"
Too many pigeons in Sleaford town centre...damn the EU!Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -
As a pensioner living outside Britain in one of the remaining 27 EU countries the triple lock and any talk about the UK old age pension interests me.
I have been receiving the UK State Pension for many years and enjoying the increases every year due to the link to inflation.
As a (very early) baby boomer I am horrified that successive British Governments have not protected the future and that people planning or approaching retirement find that they have been left behind.
Politicians all of who can't think beyond the next election spend too much time talking about "the Deficit" which mean NOTHING to "the dis-possessed" the "left behind" Problems need fixing NOW.
I also refuse to be made to feel guilty that I took my opportunities during what now (due to Political incompetence) could be called a "Golden Age"
That "Golden Age" should have continued but due to short term planning it did not.
Politicians who have to be re-elected every 4 or 5 years have ABSOLUTELY no interest in anyone's future but their own.
Having witnessed the fall of Communism perhaps we now may have to face up to the fact that Democracy is broken. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Or that the welfare state can only be funded by exponential infinite growth. A child could tell you that's not possible, yet we, as a species, persist. Odd.0 -

Perhaps you should return home and spend your pension in the UK economy then. Without taxpayers Governments have no income. No doubt when it suits you you'll also return home to use the NHS. In due course you'll be grumbling about that too. The triple lock was borne out of political posturing. Never financially viable longer term.0 -

fascism is on the rise in europe: you seem comfortable with that
yes, everything is wrong with democracy except the alternatives0 -
oh dear
poor old toxic toastie gets awfully muddled about what a 'boomer ' is (hint: Corbyn, Abbott, McDonnell, Livingstone... are boomers)
and now he doesn't know what a budget deficit is
and the poor chap is confused whether he wants more borrowing or less
but he knows that everything the tories do is wrong, even if he doesn't know what they are doing
Oh look. A weedling Clapton arrives, like a fart at a wedding speech, to pour out stinky poisonous pedantry. Ad hominem attacks. The first and last resort of a nob.
Why don't you start a thread Clappers. About something that exercises you?
Clapton's Endless Scaremongering About Immigrants Thread - for example.0 -

So far, you are the only one that has mentioned immigrants in this thread. You are the one that has abandoned any semblance of debate and resorted to abuse.
You should stop now.0 -

A bit harsh, IMO.
Rugged's just really narked because his beloved Corbyn and the Shadow Chancer of the Exchequer have seemingly said that they ain't going to stick the boot into the old - when Rugged loves Corbyn AND hates the elderly, he doesn't know what to say now. I mean, how can he support Labour policy when it goes against his most deeply felt angst?
Just being helpful, you understand.....:)
