They haven't reduced any of the deficit. They've marginally reduced the amount we borrow, then handed a large part of what we have borrowed to !!!!s like you to bribe you to keep voting for them.

    Not a great investment imo.

    oh dear
poor old toxic toastie gets awfully muddled about what a 'boomer ' is (hint: Corbyn, Abbott, McDonnell, Livingstone... are boomers)

and now he doesn't know what a budget deficit is

and the poor chap is confused whether he wants more borrowing or less

but he knows that everything the tories do is wrong, even if he doesn't know what they are doing

I'm glad you are so fond of Jeremy Corbyn. ...

It's your fondness for Jeremy Corbyn that we are interested in.:)

..Not sure the memo made it to the rest of the boomers.

Well you haven't read the latest memo have you? You started this thread because you got all excited because the HOC Work and Pensions committee wanted the triple lock axed. The Labour Party has now committed itself to retaining the triple lock until 2025. So the 'gravy train' will keep running under Corbyn.

You are going to have to find somebody else to vote for.:)

They haven't reduced any of the deficit....

Moderate deficits were the rule in the mid 2000s Blair years. But the deficit rocketed upwards to 6.9 percent in 2010 in response to the Crash of 2008 and the Great Recession. In the recent recovery, the budget deficit has declined to 2 percent of GDP.

Crumbs. So you don't understand what the word 'deficit' means. Why am I not surprised?
  • As I have observed before, toastie is poor because he's dim, not because he's been robbed.

As has been pointed out, most state pensioners are not yet boomers. The "Forgotten Generation" (certainly forgotten by the boomers) is not rich and should continue to receive boomer taxes.

Its in the next 5 years that the Triple Lock must go and "Generation Me" should start paying its own way for once.

When you say forgotten by the boomers, I do not think people go about their business even thinking they are a boomer or one of the other Generation labels.

As what you call a boomer I have always thought that Generation Me were in those who grew up under Thatcher.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

That does seem to be the case.

'Generation Me' are those born in the '80s, and '90s, and is simply another name for Generation Y or the millenials. There is even a book and a website.

And this is the generation that should "start paying its own way for once"?

Meanwhile Brexit Boomers explain their vandalism of the EU, via the medium of video, to the Guardian.

    One notable comment:

Doubtless like the commentards here they hate the left too, due to its handing out of benefits. Not of course when its handing out benefits to them, communism is fine then apparently, but not to other people. Non English people.

meanwhile, toxic struggles to understand the difference between a budget deficit and a debt

just as he continues to struggle with understand what a 'boomer' is even though he has been told that Jeremy, John, Di and Ken are all rich, well paid boomers living in multi million pound houses and with huge taxpayer supported indexed linked pension entitlements.

Have you decided to play the race card simply because you have nothing else to say?

    Shame on you.
