Driving Test Failure

My daughter failed her 1st driving test yesterday which i think was harsh.
She had got 5 minors and on her way back to the test centre she entered a dual carriageway which had 2 lanes, she was in the outside lane and then moved into the inside lane.
There were no other vehicles around at the time but she was given a major and failed, the examiner saying she stayed in the outside lane "too long" and "someone may have had to undertake her!"
I have been driving for 34 years and i know in theory you should be in the inside lane unless overtaking but i thought this was harsh really.
Maybe a minor and a word in her ear would have sufficed?
Anyway i suppose it's another £60 in their pocket for her re-test in 3 weeks :mad::mad:
P.S.She says the examiner was a right miserable old sod

going at 45mph in the outside line of a dual carriageway is a major hazard and she was rightly failed, nothing to do with another "£60 in their pocket"
why did she enter the outside line?0 -
I'm sorry, it is sometime pot luck who the examiner is. I'm sure she'll smash it next time!0

She was under the speed limit and moved back to the inside lane but not quick enough for him and there were no other vehicles around,a little harsh?????0 -
Al the best drivers fail first time. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

why was she in the right lane in the first place?
With 5 minors she cannot have done that well during the test as she must have made more mistakes.
For all we know they could have been similar mistakes resulting in the fail.0 -

I don't think so, She would have been going too slow not too fast. Why was she in the outside lane? Maybe she shouldn't have been there in the first place0 -

It was a mistake and she moved over after a while0 -

Depends what they are for. Multiple minors for the exact same thing will result in a major and a fail. Can't remember if it's 3 or 5 of the same fault before it's classed as a major. However 5 minors for 5 different things is not a fail.0 -

Was you in the car with your daughter and the examiner? If not, im presuming you're just going on your daughters version of events.0
