So a bit annoyed with Barclaycard..

So to begin the story.. Almost 3 months ago i applied for the Barclaycard platinum as i had an initial card prior but was declined due to some reasoning that i couldnt have 2 Barclaycards in my current position (no credit checked carried out by barclaycard they sent me a letter that they wouldnt) whatever so anyway the same week i called and spoke to someone and they just upgraded my initial to the platinum which was fine and was happy with.
Last month however i saw the Hilton Honours program that Barclaycard had to offer and seemed as of interest as i travel quite often seemed attractive to me so before i applied i called up to enquire and ask about the eligability and criteria and gent on the phone told me to apply and so i did online.. was reffered.. and told would be contacted about the decision in 4-5 days time.
2 weeks i didnt hear back so called to enquire about application status and they said there was a problem with the system the application didnt actually go through so he found the app and finished it off and said again that i would be contacted within a week about the decision.
Another week passed again no news, so called again to enquire somone then said they were doing some final checks identity security all that stuff..
Anyway to round it all up another week passed and again did not hear a thing and now when i called up the lady said my application had been declined because i had made a previous application for a Barclaycard platinum 3 months ago and that i needed to wait 6 months inbetween applications.. I asked if i were credit checked for the HH applicatiob and she said on all applications a credit check is done...
This is where i got annoyed and caught the belief that no one really knows what theyre talking about as barclaycard themselves sent me a letter and said no credit check was done for the first platinum app.. and she was absolutely gobsmacked to how that could even be a thing as she was sure it was done.. neither checks are on my experian.
now to round things off im just !!!!ed off that theyve wasted so much time where they could have easily told me to not apply when i called them the first time instead of longing the situation. Should i do anything as i filed a complaint with them as i fealt like there was a lack of information and knowledge between staff..

Credit Checks may *in rare* cases not apply when the bank already knows enough about your risk profile, however, given the requirements of banks to treat customers fairly, and ensure that they have sufficient funds and ability to repay debts, this is very unlikely.
I suspect the OP will get a nice gesture of goodwill from Barclaycard, given there compensation attitude, but I suspect there won't be a change of heart with the Underwriters.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
You were told you couldn't apply for a second card, so you applied for a second card? In between this you had your current upgraded as well.
Don't take a decline personally, it's not personal. well its monday and barclaycard called me to tell me that they have reviewed the phone calls over the weekend and tell me that after careful consideration they are happy to accept me for the Hilton Honours Barclaycard with a limit of £3k, definitely not the conversation i was expecting to have nor did i have any intention of overriding the decision! So absolutely happy and the fact that a lot have people have said Barclaycard are quite picky with who they give this card to makes it all worth the 5 mins i stayed on the phone to complain!
