The question is you have to decide either way, yet no one will give a straight answer because they know what their answer would have to be.
But no one does do they in reality? I can't control if my next door neighbour is a tenant or mortgaged can i ?
It's a ridiculous question.
As for PC, check out my infraction record pal. It's about as bad as it gets.....0 -

So a completely pointless question then. You know what you think the answer will be, and when somebody gives the other answer you don't believe them.
You may as well have not bothered, tbh.0 -
I'd choose a tenant. I currently rent and am a perfect neigbour
. I hope to buy in the near future. When I become a home owner my sense of self entitlement is likely to increase as I defend and improve what is mine.
Difficult renters will come and go but difficult owners are likely to annoy for longer.0 -

Back again after reading all your comments on my post.
To answer some of your questions our house is worth about £130k and we have a £40k mortgage.
Our house in France isn't selling as it isn't near any major towns, the French do not want to live in the countryside and UK and other foreign buyers have dried up. We have bought and sold 4 other houses during our working life in France and only want the cost of building our current house back.
some of you say there may be a small percentage of bad renters, well 6 out of 7 near us are bad, not a small percentage.
The ones who were evicted are now round the corner in a caravan on some waste ground. A neighbour asked the council to arrange the removal of their possessions/rubbish which still blocks the pavement but they want HIM to pay them to do it.0 -

Sounds like you should know that the property market doesn't work like that. "What you want" is irrelevant. It's worth what somebody will pay for it - and if you price it realistically, it WILL sell.
Quite possibly but sometimes in France it takes years to sell even if the property is well priced. The French are not that interested in properties that are miles from anywhere and there isn't a shortage of housing in the same way as there is in the UK.0
