Hi Potters and what a welcome relief it is from the heat!!!! :j Time to be able to work/play/whatever in comfort!!!
To all those of you unwell or poorly in any way, here's hoping that you're all very much better soon. Here for you are some {{{{hugs}}}} to help you through xxxx :grinheart
You're right Cazzie, Britain is far more like we'd imagine the Sahara to be right now, but...it's got that feeling right now that it could change as promised, I dearly hope so! Keep up the savings, and when the time is right - knock off some of those Lbs!! It happens to us all when we're down.
More good times saving Chutney!
Well you'll have had that thunderstorm, Incywincy, but I think elsewhere we've a day or so to wait, apart from though in SE. Ahh so you live in beautiful Cumbria! :heartpuls How strange that I've already been chatting to a FitBit friend today who lives there, she's a fitness nut but has a lot to say about the weather in Cumbria stopping her from getting out. I understand that us Brits are always moaning if it's too hot or too cold but wouldn't it be lovely to have a build up before we reach those blooming extremes!!
This weather reminded me of 1976! Our DS was born then and the heat was wicked just as it has been now!
Surely it can NEVER be too hot to pick up money  - can it??!
You mightn't know how much you've potted, 32b3, but the main thing is you're potting...and potting well knowing you!
Welcome back Frogletina! :hello: So pleased to hear you at least had a wonderful holiday with amazing boat trips and...bumps in the night... even while receiving the updates of all the problems at home!
What troubles the girls have endured with your poor ex, and it sounds as though some folk at the hospital are almost as confused as your ex! I realise it can't be easy for them especially when they need the beds for folk with medical problems but it's a real dilemma for you all as well as any carers! With all you're going through it really makes me wonder what's going to happen long term as the dementia ward of Yeovil hospital is closing next month!!!!! Can you believe that when there are so many Alzheimer's and dementia sufferers nationwide!!!!! Cherish the memories made in Turkey and here's all best wishes for you all in the time ahead. {{{{Hugs}}}} from us all. We're hear if ever you need to unload.
It sounds as though you've answered your problem, admiral_traveller, though the heat also might account for folk not bothering with car boots right now, I know I definitely wouldn't. Still as you say the items sold have given you that cash which is now potted, brilliant!!! :j Good luck for next time.
So sorry everyone, but I LOVE this weather It's so nice to come to work and not feel like a freak because everyone else is warm and I'm freezing! I'm walking really early because doggy does NOT like the heat, then afterwards, I'm enjoying breakfast outdoors before heading off to work - it's fab. :j
I'm delighted you're enjoying the heat so much, siju, it's a real change to hear of some [STRIKE]oddball[/STRIKE] one lapping up the heat rather than detesting it...like me! Strange how we're all made up eh, either that or...weird! :rotfl:Good counting with hubby's cash, bless him!
Hello and great news TheCatsandDogsMother!!!! :hello: It's amazing that you don't have to keep worrying about a mad neighbour anymore!!!!
Congratulations on the Masters :T and job offer - are you in a position to accept it?! I understand why you needed your savings but don't forget to pop it on your siggy so you include it when you declare in November!
Very good potting Florence!!
Off walking our dog yesterday, got alongside the allotments just about to go into the fields when something got my eye. I picked it up gleefully with thoughts of it being 1p but it was a very dirty 20p!!!! I soon cleaned it up and put it in the roadkill pot amongst friends!!! I must soon count up as there must be quite a bit in it.
Here's hoping you enjoy a lovely evening and Friday, SPCers. :j Keep filling those pots!!!
Sue xx

Afternoon, everyone.
It's been a cloudy few days in Cazzie land but I'm fighting to put it right and I find in these tougher times it's important to celebrate the little wins, of which I've had a couple today. Firstly I had to buy a box of chocolates this morning for a friend (Mr. S had Heroes for just £2) and I used the self-service checkout and was duly returned a beautiful selection of pot money in the form of a fiver, a £2 and a new £1. Then I just had a little flutter on the Gold Cup at Ascot (based purely on my love of funny names, obviously) and literally had a win with the lovely Big Orange! £1 each way at 5-1 got me £8 (a tidy £6 profit) and I've cashed in straight away as I know not to push my luck! So there is some sunshine peeking through those clouds.
Excellent roadkill find by you, Sue! There's been no sign of any roadkill around these parts for as long as I can remember - I'm convinced Sparky is out there pounding the streets and tucking it all away before sunrise! I hope you get to pot a tidy sum after shopping this week too, you always put away some impressive numbers! I hope your recovery is continuing well. And I couldn't agree more with your frustrations about the closure of the dementia unit - it figures that they are going to close the services needed the most, that's how the NHS seems to work, although I will never understand why! I can picture you leading a protest march though - the great Fairy Potmother taking a stand! Don't let them steal your vital local services! And a street march would provide some serious roadkill-finding opportunity! It's win-win!
Talking of winning, I'm off to do some comping while I'm on a roll!
Hugs to all those for whom there are any kind of clouds lingering. Evening, potters. Where have you all gone? Is there some potty party I've missed an invite to!?
Well, whilst I've been all on my lonesome, I have done some serious potting! £7 of pot money in my change AND a £2 coin from the mothership has made Cazzie's pot a very happy... well, pot! I went to lunch with a friend today and she very kindly insisted on paying (I tried very hard to pay my half and she threatened to leave me stranded, although being stranded in Pizza Hut... not the worst thing!?) So due to that unexpected saving I popped another £1 into my LISA (I know, how rock'n'roll am I!?). And I even almost became roadkill attempting to rescue the stuff but decided trying to stop a stream of moving cars to claim a single penny wasn't quite worth the risk (although it was a close call!) But some major saving has occurred so I'm a happy Cazzie today
If anyone drops by, I'll be in the corner comping my way to that first million... xxxFlat Deposit Fund - £30,000 / Fees Fund - £5,000Furniture Fund - £3,000 / White Goods Fund - £3,000 / Flooring Fund - £3,000Emergency Fund - £6,000366 Day Penny Challenge for 2024 - £370.26/£671.61 (Holiday Fund)£2 Savers Club for 2024 - £48/£200 (Christmas Fund)52 Week Card Challenge for 2024 - £146/£400 (Fun Fund)0 -
Evening everyone
We had a super few days in Glasgow, seeing the sights and generally enjoying ourselves.
Also we had the most fabulous, hot and sunny weather and I even went a bit red (soon faded though). It was great to feel warm instead of cold for a change
Have potted my usual £10 for the week :j
Hope you all enjoy the weekend

Afternooooooooooon Crafterssssssssssssss
I returned from my cheeky holibob with DH last night, my life it was HOT! We decided one morning to go for a stroll at 10 am, 10 minutes in we pass a pharmacy with a temperature sign . . 47 degrees! we made a hasty retreat back to the hotel and the shady sun loungers. We also made the mistake on the first day of thinking factor 20 was good enough, factor 30 was soon bought that evening after seeing ourselves in the mirror (DH more than me as I am known for hiding away under the umbrellas!)
Was all inclusive, so many icecreams, cakes and drinks we're consumed so now we have 2 months of beans on toast to shift some of the weight before we hit America :rotfl: we did have a lovely time but unfortunately the trip home was a nightmare we get special assistance and they decided to dump us in a corridor for 1 hr 45 mins with no toilets or drinks machines in sight. When asked when we would be pushed through to departures so we could use the toilets we were told 'later'. DH finally lost his rag, got out the wheelchair, dumped his suitcase and walking stick on me and proceeded to limp his way down to departures pushing me in front of him telling the one helper who suddenly appeared from thin air to go away we'd make it on our own.
Once on the plane it was fairly uneventful but getting to the other end, they'd forgotten to book assistance at all at our airport and after checking our tickets and seeing it printed there, the poor stewardess had to come and tell us that they had royally cocked up and we were then stuck on the plane as they'd already released the gate at the airport and the passengers were queue'd up on the tarmac ready to board and we were now classed as 'passenger contamination' 20 minutes later they sent the worlds tiniest lady to push me and DH simultaniously across the tarmac in wheelchairs (DH is by no means a small man!) past all the pasengers waiting to board. I couldn't help but laugh as we must have looked a right sight! :rotfl:
On the upside, we are now home and looking forward to being back at the airport in a few months time when hopefully everything will go much more smoothly!
In potting business, popped into tesco on the way home (as getting 1 pint of milk was waaaay to much for my 16 year old's brain to cope with :rotfl: ) and found 2p on the floor! :j plus I have a lovely new £1 coin in my purse to pot
Hopefully everyones enjoying the not so scorching weather (im in my jeans!) Hi potters, pleased that it's cooled down a bit these last few days, I've potted two £2 coins this week. My pot is being opened on the 20th July for our holiday so not long now but I will start up again ready for November.0

Evening all!
Welcome back to the fold jakes-mum! Although I think all that sunshine might have gone to your head as we appear to have gone from potters to crafters! I only wish I was a crafter then I might have more money to pot!
Glad you had a lovely time although I'm sorry to hear of your struggles - and I'm now thinking you need to provide some useful feedback and they need to provide an appropriate freebie!?
Picked up some milk in town for the mothership and got two tasty £2 coins for my trouble - did part with a lovely plastic fiver but I seem to be favouring coinage at the moment as it makes the pot heavier
Visiting a friend tomorrow in lovely leafy Kent (yay), which will involve the purchase of a train ticket (boo) but will hopefully provide some more of the right kind of change (yay again).
Hope you've all had lovely weekends. I'm certainly enjoying slightly cooler weather although with my current seven-months-of-comfort-eating-sized frame, everything seems to be a hot sweaty effort these days! But back to fat club in a few weeks. Am keeping aside a few of my fivers to fund this but hoping that I'll be back at work soon and there will be plenty more coming in and therefore plenty more to be potted.
Lots of love and squishy hugs to you all, and hope something has made you smile at least once this weekend xxxFlat Deposit Fund - £30,000 / Fees Fund - £5,000Furniture Fund - £3,000 / White Goods Fund - £3,000 / Flooring Fund - £3,000Emergency Fund - £6,000366 Day Penny Challenge for 2024 - £370.26/£671.61 (Holiday Fund)£2 Savers Club for 2024 - £48/£200 (Christmas Fund)52 Week Card Challenge for 2024 - £146/£400 (Fun Fund)0 -
