Hi all, I did this challenge a few years ago and would like to rejoin please.
Will be using a holding pot every week before transferring to my sealed pot.

Had a read through have I missed this deadline to join in the 2017 challenge?

It's never too late to join us, mand1 (I well remember you!) and frenchplonka. A very warm welcome to you! It's lovely to have you with us. :grinheart Have fun saving and enjoying the banter. You'll find your numbers at the bottom of the list on the 3rd post of page 1. Please read through post 1as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. PS. We always empty our pots and declare our savings in November, please make a note of this year's date: 2nd Nov.

Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away. ;)

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.

    - it's lovely to welcome you back to the fold! The holding pot is a great idea, a sort of safe-guard if you like. Pot well mandz!! :D

A very Good Afternoon to you Sealed Potters and I hope you're all enjoying your weekend. What a white frost to greet us today too! So pleased we turned the heating up a notch last night. :D

If any of our members are either poorly or down on their luck at the moment then we send you some soothing {{{hugs}}} in the hope that you'll soon be feeling very much better and back here and potting just as soon as possible! :grinheart

So many thanks for your kind and really thoughtful words dear jakes-mum, you're a jester and an angel all wrapped up in one person - even if we aren't always sure exactly which one's coming out at any given moment!! :rotfl::A I know you've always cared for our dear girl, and I sincerely thank you for that.

As I've told you, Ruth and 32b3 after the very kind offers from each of you, it's not the spreadsheet that presents any real problem as my darling Hubby manages that perfectly, it's just a very hectic time, even more so when both threads are going. Not normally a great problem but with our DD's problems and the stress of them increasing my seizures it can all quickly become a bit of a struggle.

I'm loathe to walk away from you all as you've all become my wonderful friends, so swiftly too! Apart from anything else I simply love watching you all save money! The pleasure in reading your posts is so inspiring; some sadness along the way is natural but the pleasure we all get has been immense!! At present I'm going to ride the storm, see how our DD goes and hope all our SPCers join together in motivating each other, which in fairness you do anyway! I'm extremely proud of SPC and so want it to continue on in the same way it always has done for close on a decade!! So, ride the storm I will and we'll see where it takes us.

Bless all you SPCers, you're a terrific bunch so let's all motor on and save as well as is possible and in mrs moneypennys or mummytummys words, make this a truly memorable year!!!

It is good to see you here with us, mossy!

Nevermind about counting every penny right now, nanto3girls, so long as you're here and potting that's all that counts! ;)

Hi pab233, keep up the fantastic work because, as you rightly say, you've just had a fantastic year, so full speed ahead for another of the same! :j

That's an excellent sum you've potted and safely housed, Indigowarrior, as all good savings should be! You're clearly doing well with the housework and finds....I'll be doing mine tomorrow and will see if there are any coins....or notes lurking!

You're most welcome, squanderscouse, and at least that "princely sum of a pound" is the start..maybe of something big! If you only saved a £1 a week you'd have £52 in a year - does that help in giving you motivation to make it more?! Of course it does, so bear it in mind and press on! ;)
    pinkwhisk wrote:
I've upgraded my coffee jar to a terramundi style pot from £1shop! Feel a bit more motivated now - this year I will save!

I love your post, pinkwhisk as you come across as a very determined lady! :j Good for you and it sounds as though you bagged yourself a real bargain with your pot!!
    curly33 wrote:
Nabbed Oh's change today so in the pot it went, he even tried to use a load of change in the shops today but I made it give it to me :rotfl:

So sorry to hear about yours and your DD's health issues Sue, thinking of you (insert dodgy hug smilie here), by the way i do have lots of naturally curly hair hence the name :)

    Curly
    xx

Thanks for answering my query, Curly, at least you've halted my curiosity. Thank you so much for your really kind words, they're so appreciated. BTW, excellent work with your OH's change - was he really thinking we on SPC actually SPEND IT?!!!! He has much to learn!! :rotfl:

Good for you in deciding to stay in and pot, 32b3, far more entertaining especially if you'd perhaps done so a penny at a time?! :rotfl: Perhaps not then. We had a good time with enjoying fireworks with all 5 grandchildren in our garden followed by a hearty warming meal! Good to hear your sister's helped 'up' your pot a bit with her IOU as well!

This is my first year! Woo hoo!
I already have a jar with some change so I will be counting that tomorrow and then I'm off!!
I'm torn between taking a note as I go along and waiting for a surprise next year - the surprise count up seems more appealing!
    Looking forward to joining in!

(Going off to update my signature with my number!)

The first year of saving for the rest of your life I very much hope, Jellyb! It's lovely to hear your excitement about starting your adventure. You save whichever way is best for you: some of us have particular needs so writing it all down really does make sense, weigh up the pros and cons and go from there. Just be sure to enjoy it all as it soon becomes addictive! :j

Bless you with your words, Lynne, though of course people like you, jakes-mum and Ruth have helped make it all very easier! Thanks so much for keeping up the reminder thread for me, I'd clean forgotten about it after Thursday! Good work with that £10er, a good boost for your pot already! :D

All the best with your new Target, dazzaofdagenham, and certainly in saving enough for your holiday in Florida!!!

You're so very sweet with your lovely and extremely thoughtful words, Antomac, thank you! I'll possibly still see how things go with our daughter and sincerely hope that just maybe new medication might be brought out to help her without all the terrible side affects she's suffered with from the last two lots. Time will tell and sadly, she's just 1 of so many sufferers!
Oooh Newquay eh Ant! We love it there so I hope you both thoroughly enjoyed yourselves! Well done with the pot, always a reminder to SAVE if you ever needed one!

It's a real pleasure, Seaotter. I was horrified to read about what your DH has been up to with his cash, though hopefully you may have converted him to an SPCers way of life! ;)

So very many thanks to you, Florence, we'll see what happens with our DD. Good luck in achieving that £400 you're hoping for, and btw....you have SPC's explicit permission to extract cash from your DH by whatever means you deem as fair!! Yes, even sitting on him!! :rotfl:

Thank you cattysmum, I'm just so pleased to have had that affect on you. :) The night shifts must be a bit hard on you, or it would be for me I'm sure. Still, I suppose it brings in higher wages. Right, you've set yourself the challenge to save £350, I wish you all the best in being able to do so...or possibly a little more! :j

Well done with the new pot and it's contents, Bex, it didn't take you long to get either. Thanks so much for your kind support.
£3.50 potted today. I'm probably going to drive everyone demented posting here on a daily basis!

One thing you'll never do here, swimminginaseaofdebt, is to drive anyone demented with daily postings of your conquests! Daily posting helps give us all incentive to join you so you pot as often as you like!!

I understand you want to keep your pots somewhere so they're a reminder to save, owlet, however, do be careful they're not too prominent so as to attract the eyes of unsavoury folk!! It wouldn't be the first time that savers here have had their pots and contents stolen!

Very good work, mrs-moneypenny, speedy too!

Good heavens above, mumof3plusoh, how did your DD ever get to be Uni age?!!! Haven't those years ever flown past!! How about your other DD and DS?
Now you know I would never dream of saying that I've heard your promises before...even though I have (!!) but maybe this time will be the year it comes true!! Good luck with that and I truly hope you succeed though I see what you mean about DD possibly getting a job, fingers crossed! Many thanks for your kind words, they're much appreciated.

Oh very aptly said, benten!, rightly so with such a cracking amount!!! :p

Hi Sue! Thank you for organising another SPC. Permission to come aboard for a fresh start please, Cap'n! (I drifted...). I've got a very shiny £2coin to start off my lovely new pot today!
Sorry to hear your news, Sue. My best wishes to you and your family. X

Permission to come aboard granted, cdm, (didn't you hear that shrill whistle piping you on??!) It's lovely to see you back with us. :D You always remind me of a bar of chocolate with those initials...is that what they stand for?!! A fresh start you can have, but with the same No...see I knew you'd be back some day! :p No more drifting, only happy potting on this ship! :j Many thank with your kind wishes.
Enjoy a peaceful Sunday, folks. Keep saving......but stay WARM!!! :D

Hi there, I must admit I banked as I went along on a monthly basis as that worked for me and I ended up with £124.65, not a lot I know but it's more than if I hadn't done it. So thanks for the thread Sue-UU

This year I have bought a tin from HB so I won't be tempted to go in it like I did the holding jar that I used!!!! (Well I can't get in it can I).

How I am doing housework 13 days after having a baby is beyond me. Oh well Joys of being a single mum. My toddler undoes all my housework anyway.

    Sue_UU,

I have read your post on the SPC ~ 9, and have reduced my declaration accordingly, I wasnt sure what I could declare, and not, I didnt realise the 12k fell under a different catagory I thought they were all MSE challenges.

Good luck for the following year, I hope we can all declare something, try not to compare yourself to other potters, some may have high paid jobs or partners to help with the totals, some may not work, due to ill health, and some just fall in the middle somewhere, I work part time but have ever increasing list of issues due to my disability, which stops me going out and socialising, and working in a bank I want to save and not spend, but like I say on my VSP thread, every penny counts and that is more then you saved yesterday, ]

lets keep things in perspective, you have all decided to better your 2017 by doing this challenge, whatever the post count next November, its more then you had today.
