    Hallå!! :j

Full time work is only work if you don't love it ;) Or so they tell me - of course if you hate it then it feels like a sentence :rotfl:

Hooray for you and the new job, sounds like it's super interesting :) I'll be adding a part time job to the full time and the occasional one I have too (mine will be about 20 hours a month... yep I'm nuts!) but this one will be one I'll do because I'm passionate about... Hey who knows - maybe one day I'll quit the FT job and just do all my little jobs LOL would be a lot more fun!

offers round a choice of my female parental unit's lemon drizzle cake or a slice of 'slab' (think in the dim and distant past it was once named date and walnut loaf or similar but in our house it's called 'slab')...

    Oh visitors how utterly splendid.

Hello one and all. Wave hello to RT.

Maddiemay thank you so much hows that garden of yours. Cheery I've never known you to be too far from CAKE lass - thanks. Stay lying down for as long as possible. PS Greying has mentioned cheese that many times, I did count :)

FA me dear the kettle is always on.

MrsTinks yikes a lot of hours but like you say if you love it you love it.

I certainly love mine. I'm now based in a 2.5 acre walled garden with associated gardens of informal and formal of around 5 acres, a special collection and a really big funky hoose which they don't let me in as I'm a bit muddy mostly.

EH - I hope you're good too. Day two no deaths I'm sure you'll agree that's a win.

    Waves to Beanie.

Good day today. In truth I've not changed my clock in the kitchen because leaving at ridiculus o clock is just too much.

    :D

DS is making sweet and sour chicken and its epic.

  • The could have been lovely ex MIL's Sweet and Sour
    {feeds 4 for less than the price of one takeaway}

1.25 chick/pork or quorn or extra veg
    .5 tsb bi carb
    1 tsb salt
    1 tsb sugar
    1tbs water

    {Mix and marinate for a bit or not a bit depending on hunger}

    Then add

    3 tbsp cornflour
    one small egg

    Meanwhile - sauce with veggies
Veg to taste (peppers, tomatoes, onions, carrots etc)
    Pineapple

    Sauce
    2.25 tsp salt
    9 tbsp sugar
    8 tbsp ketchup (or puree)
1 tbsp lea and perrins or hendersons
    1 tbsp chilli sauce (optional)
    3 tbsp vinegar (any)
Half pint water or pineapple juice from tin

    Bring to boil

    then thicken with

    2 tbsp corn flour
    3 floz water cold

    mix

use to thicken sauce to your own standard of thick, we like it quite runny so we add about this much.

    Set aside

Heat 1/3 cup oil in large pan

Add chicken/pork/veg mixture (marinade plus cornflour) keep the faith and let it seal gently in the heat, move slowly until crispy. Believe me this works.

Cook til crispy. transfer to draining or oven on hot for a wee minute

Once all is cooked and you're happy add the cooked crispy stuff to sauce and serve with rice or noodles.

    Todays tea.

  • I see the meal plan says something eggy and 'cheesey' and vegs from the garden.

I can assure you there is no cheese and of course pineapples grow in our garden :P

The other veg is of course from home or work.

    :D

  • Hi Pippi I was subscribed to one of your previous diaries (had a different name back then) but lost you somewhere along the way and I've found you today with a shiny new diary :D that an the lure of talk about cheese and cake was just too much ;)

Have screenshot the s&is recipe and trying it at the weekend. Have a tin of pineapple in my use up box. Perfect.

    Garden sounds amazing.
