Barclaycards issued before 1992

in Credit cards
Hello
I have been informed by Barclaycard, that my credit card account (£8750 limit) has not been registered with credit rating agencies because I opened my account before 1992 - I opened it in 1983.
My Barclaycard is the only 'credit card' that I have ever owned.
Clearscore etc are marking my credit rating down because I have no history of holding a credit card.
It would appear that I may have been paying too much interest on my loans since 1992 because I have only ever held a single credit card which Barclaycard didn't understand.
They probably thought I had a few (store cards etc).
Dear Mr Savage
Thanks for your message.
I would like to inform you that all Barclaycard Visa accounts opened since November 1992 include consent to share information with Credit reference agencies as part of the application and your account was opened before this therefore the consent form was not send earlier.
I hope it helps.
Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind Regards,

Open another credit card or transfer to a new Barclaycard product such as a rewards card and enquiry if this will trigger a new agreement?0

Take no notice of your Clearscore 'score', it's only how they view you, they don't share that with lenders.
Some lenders report to all three, some to just one so it really would depend which CRA BC report to and if your lender was using that particular CRA at the time of application anyway as to whether they would have seen it.
As a side thought, did the loan application not ask you about your commitments such as CCs?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Clearscore accepted the problem which I raised with them. They can only use informatiom given to them from credit rating angenies.
They reported it to one of them - Equifax which is now 'dealing' with it.
I'll post their response in due course!0 -
OP to get anywhere with this you will need to have proof that you paid more in interest because Barclaycard did not report your card to the CRA's.
Good luck with that one!0 -
Barclaycard have stated their position in black and white.
They say that I opened my account before 1992 and therefore they did not register it with CRA's. However, it appears that they are now sending me a 'consent form' to divulge my account details 24 years after they should have!0 -
Firstly, I have a credit card account (not Barclays) opened some years before yours. The credit card is being reported with the full information every month, not just a balance.
Secondly, this non-reporting could be of great benefit to you. You could max out the card yet still have your credit reports not showing anything so don't be too quick to try to get this card reported.0 -
Why would I wish to 'max out' a credit facility (reported or not)? The debt still needs to be serviced surely from income.0
-
Because IF you had a balance on this card no lender would know about it and therefore the existing balance would not be taken into consideration when making a new application. You would therefore be more likely to get a higher credit limit and a better rate of interest as you would appear to have no debt.0

I believe very few lenders started using CRAs until the late 1990s, early 2000s.
When you took out your CC with BC, there was no monthly update sent to a CRA by lenders in general.
Some of my current accounts have only been reporting recently, now Dwr Cymru (Welsh Water) has also started.
Did you ever get a copy of your CR from all 3 CRAs? You are able to report any queries direct to the CRAs yourself.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Did you consent to them doing so?0
