    ...I hope rtandon ain't reading...

    I'm ALWAYS reading love :D
...Sorry fer messing wif yer head love...

Good thing I've lost the plot with what day of the week it is! Atm they are all just blurring together!

...we picked up a punnet of those Marks&Spensives flat peaches yesterday - there were four of them so worked out to 16.25p each - luscious and sweet, tasting fully of summer!...

...but do take note that MrSbury has a punnet of regular ones on for 50p - I'm tempted to taste test them :D

...MrRT who in his retirement is now taking interest in the price of 'things' found 15 of MrSpensives freerange eggs for 2pounds - the same price as the MrSbury ones we usually get - let's see if these shells are stronger & the yolks more yellow!

...and before you ask - we were at MrSpensives as they had a 70% off online sale & a couple of smart work items were ordered to replace some old and well worn ones :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)

    Good Evening :hello:

    Wot a day :D

I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed both the radio TMS coverage, and the 'free-to-air' channel4/more4 coverage of the cricket. SUCH a stunning game - so worthy of a final, such good play on both sides, and what a corker of a 'super over' - for both teams! Edge of the seat stuff - SO very much more interesting than 'extra time' in the footy, and much more productive than a penalty shoot-out. The real winner will be cricket as a sport - it was hard to watch the emotional, physical and mental drain on the NZ team - who gave everything. It could so easily have been a reversed result - it was so close, so very close.

I didn't hear/see ball-by-ball coverage, as we did pootle out into the wide blue yonder to grab a breath of fresh air and a change of scene at the local natty trusty place. The car-park was heaving - no surprise, the house wasn't overly busy - and you could duck in to see the special events, and then duck out again - which worked well. We took our picnic into the garden to munch - we weren't the only ones with the same idea :D But we did manage to snag a shady, quiet spot in which to enjoy our egg mayo sangers, and other bits and pieces that made up our picnic spread :D It was good to see that the cafe was doing brisk business - the place needs to generate funds :) and the line to the ice-cream kiosk was about 10 deep. BG doesn't like ice-cream, so we didn't feel the need to join it. I was a little surprised that DH bemoaned the fact the producers were not from Greying County - and started talking about food miles and local produce! :rotfl:

We saw BG's Dr as we were leaving - happy to report that of the 2 times I have seen them outside of surgery hours, the first time I was using the stairs in M&$ (with BG in a carrier) - as were they, and today we were both out walking and enjoying fresh air away from technology screens :j Brownie points for meeeeeeee!! :rotfl::rotfl: I'm also glad to report that BG is very much better - so I'm (strangely) hopeful that it was yet another niggly, lingering condition, and not a portent of a chronic condition. Fingers crossed.

Tea this evening was Vegetarian Dalcha and rice, made with a courgette from the S6 in mrAl. We called in on the way back so that DH could have a beer to watch the GP with - pity that in trying to switch over to see what the score in the cricket was - he inadvertently went onto the live feed of the person who won the British GP completing their winner's lap............ :o Saved a couple of hours of sitting on the couch I suppose........ oops :o:rotfl:

    Today I am grateful for;

    Free fun

    Family time

Fairly fought sporting contests - freely aired for following fans :D

    Good Evening :hello:

Well, both yesterday and today have been spiffing :D:j

I have spent a few wonderful hours (they flew by so quick) with a chum. We laughed and chatted and set the world to rights ;) They are always so kind and generous, and I'm so glad that they are in our lives :D

There has been cooking of cake :j which BG closely supervised and even helped with a little. I am greatly admirous of BG's willingness to be 'first taste' tester - lest the cake should have been 'bad' and mumsy or dadsy risk getting sick....................... :rotfl: At least they had some natural yoghurt too to balance up the 'nutritional element' of their dessert............. :o

Tea was a buddha bowl in the truest sense of t'word :D It comprised gifted summer veg, storecupboard goodies, bargainacious bargains and stuff from the fridge. I used up a punnet of marinated tofu (I bought a second lot at a £1 for 3 in h3r0n) - and whilst you can eat it 'raw' I'm not sure I'm going to again - I think there is an ingredient in the marinade that I just don't like, can't put my finger on it, but I think I prefer this particular tofu 'in' stuff. I also used up some dressing that I got from £stretCH3r yonks ago for about 20p, so it's possibly well out of date. It was supposed to be h311man$ lime & coconut dressing. Um, anyone who was around in the 1970's and remembers 'wA1$tl1ne' salad cream, will know what it tasted like....... I didn't think you could make salad cream MORE zingy............... ho hum. Still, it improved the tofu :rotfl:The buddha bowl won't be repeated - not because I wouldn't want to - but because it can't be. That's the kinda teas I like. It means you're using seasonal stuff, or bargains, or your nowse to make summat outta nowt :D

Dunna tell the Scottish contingent, but I bought some strawberries today - that wunna produce of Fife :o They were English....... Staffordshire I think............. Anyhoo, £1.25 for just over 400g. They look nice and ripe - and smell delicious, so I'm hoping i bought some crackers :D

My OS maps were delivered yesterday - I was well chuffed. But will have to decide if I need another one - as I'd not really done my homework properly, and hadn't realised that one location was at the bottom of a sheet - and we're possibly not going to go exploring much to the north of it........ :o

Right, I've a raft of admin to get on with. The blessed elecktrickery company want to put up my DD by £23 in one fell swoop. I dunna blessed fink so..........................

    Today i am grateful for;

    friends

    summer produce

more plans for adventures to look forward to.

Ta for popping in. It's appreciated. Big style.

Soz, beanie :o But we've not tried 'em yet. So I may well, yet, be bitten on me bum............ :rotfl:

How is it possible to wake up exhausted?

    *sigh*

I think I am definitely going to have to do a full-blown price comparison for our energy supplier. Our current supplier aren't really trying to keep us - how many nuisance calls regarding fitting a smart-meter can my phone block a day? we're very nearly into double-figures, most times :( Also, since when did charging 'exit fees' for fixed price 'deals' become the norm? The one 'deal' said I might save £55, but if I wanted to leave, it would cost me £30.......... The mild winter (for us) helped, but of course, we have used more energy because of the lousy spring into early summer. But I'm up-to-date with my payments. I don't owe the company anything, so they've not lost out. I was looking at a rental property online the other day, that was bragging about it's eco-efficiency credentials. Of course, the rent was top-dollar (and then some), I wonder if the saving per month on energy would compensate for the high rent..... I somehow doubt it....... But hard to heat older houses are the pits..................

Tea this evening is an unknown - but we've lots of bits and pieces, so we won't starve. And as BG's first words to papa this morning on waking were...... 'where's the cake?' I suspect we'll muddle through our calorie intake as best we can today......... :rotfl:

I'm thinking we might have a picnic lunch out. BG has been hankering after sitting in a temporary 'oasis' - that has been created locally - for some time, and I overheard a conversation yesterday that mentioned it won't be there for much longer. So we best make hay :D Bit of free fun :D

Right, best vamoose, greet the day - shake a tail-feather an' all that :D

Did you know you can order an OS map with a particular location at the centre of it? DH did it when we moved here because we had the same thing - everything we wanted to do was on a crease or edge of a map

No, I didn't know that Suffolk lass - what a spiffy idea :D Do you order direct from OS or something? With the relevant co-ordinates? I can certainly see the value in having one at a forever home, or a holiday cottage or a hostel or something. I have been green with envy at the amount of cycle trails all over my new maps. We can't take bikes on this occasion, but ooooohhhhh, I'd so like to....... Never mind, one day :D

Funnily enough, I was thinking about entering a challenge that involved you needing to prove that you could accurately map-read. And I was seriously thinking of taking a course. I never 'got' OS maps when we did geography at school. And love the teacher that we had in O level year - she tried and tried and tried to instill it into us. But I 'got' them better in adult life, through just using them. Understanding the pictures they paint, and the translation to what is in front of you. I still get my Northerlings and easterlings mixed up tho - so NEVER ask me for a grid reference. For anything! :rotfl: But it would be good to learn - what a skill to obtain. Mmmmmmm, ponders

Being able to read a map, find your location, calculate grid references / co-ordinates and navigate your way about, is an essential skill IMHO ;)
Imagine the fun you could have with BG, planning your adventures to grid references on a map :)

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

You're leaning against an open door with me on that subject UCS :D I would adore it if BG was 'outdoorsy'. I'm do cartwheels (in my minds eye ;)) if they ever showed the slightest inclination to do the DoE challenges :D

we've already had some pretty funny conversations whilst pouring over OS maps. 'I fink it's this way.... yes' is the most favouritist sentence from BG when looking at maps :D

And i like it when even with my limited ability - I can offer help. We got stopped a couple of months ago, and asked for directions (we were deemed 'locals'). I was able to help because I had the relevant OS map with me. And although the questioner was quite keen to point out that they expected the landscape to be littered with huge signs saying, 'The attraction/thrill/secret cove that YOU are looking for is THIS way....' I think they did listen to my explanation of where we were and where they needed to go to get to the thrill that they sought. Interestingly, I had to put a proviso on my explanation, as the OS map showed a telephone box at a junction - I did say, 'IF it is still in situ....' Thankfully, the 1980's 'silver box' was still there - not sure if there was a phone in it mind...... but it shows how progress changes the landscape.....

I love what the chookyembra award scheme (what we call the DoE award scheme north o t wall ;) ) does to promote the great ootdoors to young people... I wonder who will take it all on when the ole fella passes on?

I have a few younger mates (MUCH younger than me lol) who still have and use their old DoE gear :)

If BG shows interest in scouts or guides or whatever then it will open up so many doors to them to learn a lot of important life-skills.

Have a braw day wi the bairn today, hope the weather is grand where you are (((((HUGS)))))
