I also bought some coconut oil (ouch!), and had to shell out for m&$ organic EV stuff, which I only did, as I had a £2 credit receipt, and it brought it down to the price I would have paid in HB, had they had any in stock. It's actually very nice and very filling. I didn't use 120ml of maple syrup - I am not a rock-a-fella...... I used a splodge of molasses...
What a lovely recipe GP - thank-you for sharing the link! Plans for today include some baking - good old standby of banana nut bread, but will also give that one a go...

ha ha! rtandon - you are one person I would expect to have a plentiful supply of the proper stuff, bought at source or gifted! As you know, the prices for decent stuff this side of the pond are somewhat eyewatering............Have to say am worried about forecast bad weather

I agree beanie - and whilst I would class myself as able-bodied, the pavements here quickly become treacherous, it's not worth risking walking on them once there is the faintest bit of ice (which there is, due to footfall) - and you're relying on people being able to drive their cars safely - about 18 inches away from you, anyway. No, I'm not looking forward to bad weather, at all - trapped is exactly how I feel during snow and ice, and theoretically, we don't have it as bad this side of the border........ Which part of Heron is good? Every time I've got their leaflet, it's just seems to be the same promotions as Asda (etc) at the same prices.
Interesting that you refer to a 'leaflet', as I've never seen one. It could be that Heron Foods has different things available in different regions.
Some things are the same prices as supermarkets, I don't buy canned fruit or vegetables, as A!di is cheaper.
However, for 'treats' and Christmas bits, Heron scores very well. It often has tubs of Ben n Jerry or Haagen Daz, multibuys of Cornettos, Magnums, etc.
Their loin of pork for c. £3.49 is very good, the 'cooking' bacon is great, and there are often amazing bargains in the chiller.
I find that it's probably the chiller that is the 'part of Heron that is good'. 500g Flora light for 69p, 3 litres of coconut milk for a quid, two rolls of Jus Rol ready rolled puff pastry for 60p the other week... Now, that meets my definition of good. I might not use coconut milk but I do Flora, and puff pastry.
Sorry to hijack your thread, GP. Regarding maple syrup, I can't resist it when Mr Al has it. Over pancakes/drop scones.
American pancakes are just drop scones, and don't let them tell you different...
Massive disappointment in Vermont, that was. Where the maple syrup was dirt cheap, but I knew my son would want to try Gatorade instead, so got that. Good Morning :hello:in_need_of_direction wrote: »I didn't know maple syrup came in cans.
I've had maple syrup in (screw-top) cans from america. Not sure I've ever seen them in this country. Also little plastic barrels, trying to look like a pottery 'flaggan' - the sort you'd see the goodly land-based folk from Candleford, swigging cider from, in Larkrisemcculloch29 wrote: »Massive disappointment in Vermont, that was. I haven't seen leaflets for h3r0n in our neck of the woods, either. And I have to say, I don't think that the takeover of them by beeandem has been all goodThere was mozzarella in ours the other day at 39p a ball. OK, I concede a good price for the particular brand Gal****i, but they used to be instore for 4 for £1...... And I saw LurrPAk spreadable butter in there, 500g for £3.75. Exactly the same price as M&$!!! What's the point in that?
Ha yet, the much marketed drink of gators...... I distinctely remember the colour - oh the neon yellow colour..... of m0untane d3w when I was there in the 90's. And it's claim (amongst students) to be the most caffinated drink to get you through an 'all-nighter' of writing your assignments when they were due the next day......
Right, exercise will be on the cards today. We must get out and about at all times that we are able to - just in case we get snowed in. I shall be climbing the walls otherwise.
I have made up the Chickpea and Mushroom bangers, using my remaining punnet of mushies, and a leftover carton of chickpeas from my falafel/hummus making. I made 15 and a small half. I put the 15 in the freezer for another day (they cook from frozen better anyway), and cooked up the half to give to BG to try. Eat it they did! (knock me over with a feather).
I'm pretty sure we will have sufficient food to last us the whole of this week. I just hope that we don't get the inclement weather. But then I wouldn't wish it on any area, so if it comes, we'll just have to suck it up and manage the best we can.
I haven't got any shopping to do today, as there is no money :rotfl: I shall move money about so that it is in the right place for bills from the start of next month. I should look to do a comparison for insurance too. I hate doing price comparisons. I like saving, sure, but price comparison sites do my head in. Why can't you just be charged the price for the risk you present. Not get discounts for being a new customerAnd get NCD for house insurance - if you've never claimed.
Rant over. :rotfl:
Right, breakfast.

Hope you've had a good and the weather isn't too wild there.
It's cold here but no matter how much it tried the snow hasn't stuck to the ground today
