  • So I'm taking advantage of BG having decided on having a snooze to sort out insurances.

Am I the only person that never gets these 'huge savings' that are supposed to be gleaned from going via comparison sites?

So I picked a company that was suppose to 'save' me £40 on my renewal quote. Went through tcb, which of course was promising £££'s in back coming cash, only to find - with giving no different detail to that entered on the comparison sites - that they wanted £30 more for less cover than the comparison site said I'd get......................... If I get any problems with cb (whatever it ends up being) not tracking, I am going to be livid and give up comparison sites for good. I don't know which consumers they work for, but they don't do alot for me :(

...Tea last night was veg & bean stew with dumplings. I loused up the dumplings. Twice. How on earth can you louse up dumplings? Twice? :(...

GP - how do you make dumplings? (when they turn out that is?;))

Many years ago my Scottish Aunty used to make the lightest & fluffiest dumplings I've ever eaten on top of her moo stew - one of the most delectable soul satisfying meals I've ever had - perfect for weather just such as we have now! She did show me how, but as no one was allowed near the kitchen when she was cooking, I never got the chance to practice!

Psst...I may have started a diary!

Mmm, I bet your aunty used suet pastry. Probably the most reliable recipe (with years of experience on its side) is the bero suet pastry recipe. My recipe - gleaned from who knows where, uses a cup measurement of plain flour (which I read wrong :o) 2 tsps baking powder, salt, oil and milk. Dumplings go wrong (for me) when I a) don't put enough raising agent in :o or b) make them too wet. Fluffy dumplings definitely come from dough that is on the 'drier' side.

    HTH,

ps if you've no suet, you can grate solid butter. If you've no butter, then bless you.......... ;)

  • Good Morning :hello:

Would it be too bah-humbuggy to say I'm fed up of the weather now....... :snow_laug

In other news....... we managed to get out and about yesterday :j I thought it was going to take as long to tog BG up as we were likely to be out toddling :rotfl: But it was worth it, as they stayed cosy warm, had a very good toddle - miles in mini-steps!!! :D - and were laughing and smiling pretty much all the way along :T I was amazed that they were sure-footed and didn't slip nor stumble (neither did mumma, thankfully...... ) and were still smiling by the time we got home :D I'm so pleased that we got out of the house.

    Yesterday was a no-spend day :j

Tea was a bit mundane and pedestrian, as I was [STRIKE]worrying[/STRIKE] looking out for DH coming home, rather than chipping, chopping and prepping tea. We ended up having lovely buttery mashed potato - good auld dirty wiljas :T - broccoli, carrots, baked beans and a single egg omlette. Comfort food :D

Tea this evening is currently a mystery. We have plenty in, so it's not as if the cupboard is bare, I'm just trying to be sensible about organising what we have got, rather than using up everything, only to find that the shops are empty - as much as anything, because I appreciate that whilst things aren't too bad with us, there are other parts of the country that are going through the mill, weatherwise, and distribution is bound to suffer.

BG is currently having a snooze. They seem to have reverted back to having a morning snooze again. Still, I'm not complaining. I just want them to be warm, safe and happy.

Right, best go and do something else. Ta for popping by. Appreciated.
