  • Good Evening :hello:
    Hope BG is okay

    x

    Yes, thank you lovely, I am very grateful to report that as yet, any snuffliness has come to nought, and in fact BG has been full of beans today :j Their eating has been all over the place - but that is kinda in keeping with what has been occuring of late, and they polished orf a big tea, so no complaints :D They have also added the pronounciation of 'fox' to their 'rather dubious sounding' repetoire......... :rotfl: I blame Julia Donaldson :rotfl:

    Well, we've had a good day :D DH and I divided and conquered the jobs, with him getting to gad out and about in the motor car, and me getting to saddle up shanks' pony and chauffeur BG all around the place :think: Still, I enjoyed the fresh air and exercise :D We went to the HB on the peripherary of Greying Town, as their 'fresh' produce is usually in good supply. I hit the jackpot, getting 2 bags of idared apples, a punnet of black grapes and some easy peelers :D I got cardboard box fish and fish fingers from h3r0n and some oven chips. DH was tasked with a trip to the tip and getting 'storecupboard' stuff from mrL :D

    Lunch was cheese, beetroot and mayo sangers and some grapes :D

    As we didn't go 'out' as such today, I only semi-cheated with tea, and did baked potatoes, steamed savoy cabbage, cardboard box fish and pea and apple chutney (recipe is one of three listed on the web page). I made a tahini, miso, mayo, citrus dressing to go with the fish. DH liked-ish the chutney, I think he would have preferred mushy peas because it was winter - feeling the chutney was better in summer. I liked it, but thought mint might have been either a good addition, or a substitution for the coriander (although less mint would be needed). But it was 'healthy' version of fish and potatoes, and made a nice change :D

    I made a plum sponge pudding - to use up oven space :A I used 4 of the 6 plums that I got from mrA the other day. They had ripened nicely and were easy to de-stone. They released lots of claret red juice, and I added in cinnamon, ginger, clove and nutmeg, as well as a star-anise to add a spiced vibe. I did remember that I had put the star anise in, and managed to dig it out of DH's portion before he ate it:D The sponge was just a conventional 4:4:4:2 sponge mix. We had it with greek yoghurt.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    BG's bounciness :D

    nice, fresh food

    A lunch date confirmation with a pal
    - they're coming to me :eek::rotfl:

    Ta for popping in, reading and thinking of us. Appreciated. Greatly.

  • Good Morning :hello:

    Reasonable night's sleep all round :j BG seems bright and bouncy again this morn, so long may that continue :)

    Start of a new week, here we go. I've worked out a meal-plan for the week. We are having lentil-based bobotie with rice for tea.

    Sorting and tidying is on the agenda for this week - and we've got to keep the house tidy for our visitor at the end of the week! (fat chance :().

    I'm not entirely sure that there is anything more :money:to report. Best vamoose.

    Ha ha, I know, but my chum was my CMW, and whilst I'm not going to be using maternity services again, and she is now doing other things, I don't want her to [STRIKE]know[/STRIKE] think that BG's mother is a slattern when it comes to housework........... :rotfl: Imagine if I had a friend who was a HV :eek::rotfl:

    Well, we've been for a wander to see how far it is, and it obviously was just far enough, as BG came home and fell asleep in their lunch - so they are now tucked up in Bedfordshire, having a restorative 40winks.

    I've bought a stamp and posted a letter. Bought a ball of wool to incorporate into a garment for BG and the remainder will make a nice beanie. I came across a HUGE cauliflower in M&$, in their 'essentials' range, for £1, so i bought it. I know that...... mrL(?) have caulis on their PoTW, for...... 79p(?) but I'm taking the punt that this one is bigger - even though it cost 21p more - and that I snagged a bargain. I know people don't always want the biggest veg, but there did seem to be a heck of a difference in the sizes of the caulis on offer.

    We bumped into our mumchum up the high street, but they were working today - can't believe a week has passed since they were sitting sipping coffee and munching cake with us.

    I've been a nutritional goody-two-shoes and had sardines on wholemeal toast with beetroot for my lunch :A :rotfl:

    Right.best shuffle orf and do some tidying whilst BG is snoozing.

  • Good Evening :hello:

    I've had a good day, being ruthless with 'stuff' that is gathering dust and not being used - I'm finding it hard to believe that there is anything left I've been at this decluttering so long! But there is :( Anyhoo, 2 items will need to be taken to the chazzer tomorrow. There are little/no use to me, but they are saleable - someone will want them. And 2 and a half black bin bags of 'stuff' has been kicked out of the towers too :( That'll have to go to the tip, unfortunately, on account of not being useful and mostly being covered in dust/mould :(

    I did find that an 'old' charger lead, which is a plug socket or USB one, fits my 'new' (several years old, already) phone, so that will be utilised - it had to be demoulded though. How come mouldy dust is attracted to electric cables?

    We went for a pootle and bought the TV guide, some clothes for BG using a credit receipt from a gift received at Chrimbo that wasn't really practical, and some avocados and blood oranges. I also got a YS'd pack of veggie sausages from m&$ - from their 'new' veggie range. Butternut squash and paprika. Still a bit costly at £1.75 for 6 sausages, but better than the £3 they normally want for them. In some ways, I am hopeful that they are not utterly delicious, otherwise how will I afford them in the future? :rotfl:

    Tea this evening was chickpea, leek and parmesan soup. But I had no parmesan, and couldn't be bothered to buy any, so I used nutritional yeast to achieve my umami 'hit'. I also added a spot of lemon juice and zest to prink it up a little. I partially blitzed my soup, so that it was thick, but there were still discernable chickpeas/leeks in the mix. I thought it nice. A keeper of a recipe for me, as I had all the things to hand - and, barring the leeks, it's a reasonably cheap recipe, and if you grow your own leeks, or get them in S6 or something, then it's a good recipe to have up your sleeve.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    a step forward towards a decluttered home

    time for some knitting

    that BG has taken up people watching
    - which is free :j:rotfl:

    Ta for popping in and wishing us well. Appreciated.

    I hear ya beanie :(
    Me three! Although ours is mainly kids clothes and toys (wish they'd stop growing!)

    I read a comment on someone's diary over on the MFW board, and they were saying that their kids had 'grown' a size in between Christmas and half-term :eek: I think they have several children :eek:

    Right, half-way through the week.

    I've a ton of stuff to do today. I'm probably being over-ambitious in what I can achieve with a small in tow, but I'll try.

    Tea is going to be a mystery, as we're away from the homestead for all of this afternoon, and I've got to try to shoe-horn in some shopping on my return to the towers. For the umpteenth time, I wish there was a decent take-away near-ish to us :(

    I will be spending money today, but have a list. Stick to it, I must!

    I'm going to try to make our charity donations, but I've got to label the one thing, with components/instructions for use. It never came with any, and whilst it is reasonably straightforward, if you're trying to set it up for the first time, it is less so :(

    Right, tail-feather-a-shifting is commencing.

    Ta for popping by :D
