Where I am it is already 2017, so can I wish everyone a wonderful and debt free New Year!

If your debt doesn't disappear altogether (as mine won't), then may it go down significantly, and may the lessening of the debt see a lessening of worries.

I don't know how to put jumping men on - otherwise I would have a row of them

    Regards to all.

Hiraeth, congratulations on your news and don't be disappointed that you "only" managed $100 for the end of December. That's great and as you say, it is the time of year most people are adding to their debt not reducing it.

Happy New Year and some jumpers for you

  • Dear CP2016 - thank you so much for the Jumpers.

It's these comments that I am receiving that are keeping me on the straight and narrow (so to speak). So many thanks.

I've got another $25 voucher from Swagbucks, so once the New Year is over it is knitting wool and crochet hooks for me.

Can't believe I can feel so positive about being able to spend $25 and knowing it is not coming out of my pocket.

I've spent years being worried over the stupid debt and because I couldn't face it I've actually been allowing it to grow. Now that I have faced the issue - as frightening as it is, and it is frightening - I know I am on the right track to getting rid of the debt.

It doesn't mean that I am not still frightened over how much I owe - I don't think I will feel even slightly easier until it is around the $8,000, then I might breathe a bit easier. But I am getting some feeling of achievement by not using the card and by paying off even small amounts.

Good luck to everyone else who is struggling.

Well here I am with my first posting of 2017 - and with absolutely renewed vigour to continue where I left of in 2016.

We had a great Christmas - and I hope everyone else did in their own way - whatever way that is.

I have just come back from taking my 2 grandsons home after having them for a wonderful month. Very full on, but lots of craft activities and swimming, and none of them costing much.

I made my first payment for the year of $150. As I mentioned - not as much as I would like, but certainly balanced by not having added anything to my credit card, so slowly it may be but it is going down, and now that things are somewhat back to normal I should be able to get to my regular fortnightly payment.
One grandsons birthday has gone and although I did not give him a voucher I got through my surveys, I did buy him a voucher from a game shop and I used my survey voucher to top up my shopping. So no out of pocket expenses. Another birthday at the end of the month and then 2 at the beginning of February and I have the vouchers already to cover little presents, so I am really happy.

I know it's going to be a long road as $12,000+ is a lot of money to owe and pay off, but as I have said before (several times I know but it does help to keep me focused) if I keep paying the small amounts eventually it will go down. It didn't go up in one go so it's not going to go down that way either.

Good luck to everyone else trying to clear their debts. Would love to hear from anyone who reads my posting.

    Happy New Year to you!

It's great that you're making little regular payments. Can you not do any cash surveys and have them paid into your paypal account then transfer them across. I've just paid an additional £28 off my credit card through surveys. It's a small amount but it helps.

Prolific Academic payout in cash as do mintivine, opinion outpost and onepoll .

Good to hear from you Louby and Bobarella

Louby I will check out the Profilic Academic website. I do the Swagbucks which gives me gift vouchers - useful ones and I am familiar with their site now. I will though checked out the one you mentioned as I do have time to do two.

Bobarella - it was a lovely month with the grandsons - on the go all the time but we do lots of physical things - swimming, walking, craft etc and the bonding is wonderful.

Good luck to you both with your own challenges.
