Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. Getting a 0% credit card is out of the question. I did try but am actually unable to get a card because we are on a pension. So I have come to terms with that. I stupidly got into this debt and so now have to get out of it - interest and all. But that is why I am paying as much as I can, at least $200 a fortnight because I know that the interest will slowly drop down each month. I just see it as a consequence of my stupid actions in not thinking properly about what I was spending. It's my own fault and I take ownership of it even though it hurts.

So tomorrow when I get my pension I hope to make another payment and see the balance going down again. That is what I look forward to - just making those payments.

Have to say that I am pleased that I have been doing the swagbuck surveys - most of them are a bit mind numbing and you are tied to a computer for several hours a day, but being able to cash in my points and get $75 dollars - which will do for birthday presents makes it worth while and is just like $75 off my card.

So thanks for people's good wishes.

Thanks Bob - I have been doing a copy and paste of the amounts from each previous posting and adding my latest payment on the bottom. But when I was just posting a note without having made a payment or adding anything to it I just left it out. Thanks for the hint though - I will look into it.

Well pension day today and $200 across to pay off my card. Slowly but surely..........

I'll change my signature at some stage - just a bit busy at the moment. Sure not everyone wants to see a long list - so I will adjust it somewhat just to reflect when I initially owed, balance now and my new payment.

    Regards to everyone

It's your diary Hiraeth, make it how you want. If it motivates you to list it all out then do that. Well done on your latest payment!

A quick log in to say I feel quite proud of myself. I have had a period of 3 weeks where I have been unable to get out much so I have stuck at my swagbucks. I've mentioned before that it is hard going and it is - but its so well worth doing because I was able to earn enough extra points that I was able to get a $25 gift voucher which I will give to my daughter in law for Christmas.

So - keeping true to what I want to do and that is see my balance drop - I have transferred $25 from my savings account across to my credit card.

On one hand it doesn't sound much .............. but when I tell her how I got it she will be thrilled and proud of me as she does tell me to stop spending on the family.

So I'm feeling happy and I'm off to look at Christmas decorations - and no I'm not buying.............. just love looking and the walking around is good for me.

Well it's nearly a week since I last posted so thought that I would put pen to paper (so to speak!).

Everything is going well. Have spent several days out looking at the shops and all the Christmas decorations etc and have really enjoyed it.

It was an interesting experience too, because for the first time that I could remember I actually picked things up that I liked (with no intention of buying - just looking) and after having a good look at it then looked at the price and had a little discussion with myself over whether it was worth the price or not. I saw what looked like a lovely game, that any other year I would have picked up and bought for my 10 year old grandson without looking at the cost. However this time I looked at the cost and it was $49 and I realised that we could do exactly what this box did - for next to nothing! All I need is a little notepad, a couple of dice, an egg timer and to make about twenty palm cards with pictures on - and I can print these off my computer. If I put them all in a nice little box and type out instructions I have the same thing but minus a large fancy box, lots of clear plastic and cellophane.

I know it might sound 'mean' or something to some people, but given the fact that I have this debt to pay off 'mean' it will have to be. And I have a lovely grandson who will be very pleased that I made the game for him.

And added to that is that I managed to save another $25 as a discount on a purchase I had to have. Luckily I had enough funds in savings account for the purchase and I was able to transfer the $25 off my credit card.

    Regards to all.

    Hi Hiraeth

You are doing so well at resisting all the Christmas temptations, and thinking up your own games is just a sign of how Frugal you can be when you put your mind to it. Well done!

Thanks Bob I do appreciate your comments they actually keep my motivated - almost like - well that person is cheering me on and I can't let them down.

Sorry I don't do the same in return - it's something I must do. I'm usually so pleased with myself that I write my message and that's it and that is a bit selfish. So I will be making a point from tomorrow of reading other posts and giving people the boost that people are giving me.

    Regards to everyone.
  • Hi Hiraeth

You are doing really well. You've paid off nearly 1000 in less than two months. At that rate you'll be debt free in two years from now and have an extra 400 a month! Considering it's the run up to Christmas too, that's amazing.
