Plz HELP! I'm on a holiday from hell!

Hi everyone
I am currently in the Antalya area of Turkey with my husband and two kids, aged 4 and 7. We came to Turkey last week for a much needed half term break and have had a fab time so far.
The only problem is that when I booked the holiday we wanted to base our selves in two separate area. The first few days we were at the Titanic Beach hotel in Lara which was absolutely amazing, there is absolutely nothing I could fault it on.
Today we moved to another hotel in Side and that's when the problems started. The hotel is advertised as 5 star, but I would say it's more a 4 star- which I know is to be expected in Turkey. However, that isn't the only problem.
When I booked the hotel on travelrepublic it said that the room would have two double beds, when we got here we got a room with one double and two rock hard sofa beds. I asked the hotel manager and she said that they don't have any rooms with two double beds and the best they could do is give us two separate rooms. But this isn't an option for us as our kids are too young to be in a room by themselves.
It is our first night here and the kids have refused to sleep on the sofa beds as they are so I in comfy. We have had to give up the double bed for the kids and me and my huby are currently sleeping on the floor as my husband is 6 foot and would no way fit on the sofa bed.
I feel so deflated and I really don't know what to do. We have a few more days left here but I really don't know how I'm going to get through it. What can I do? I'm tempted to book myself into another hotel but not sure if it will be worth the hassle and to be honest I really cannot afford to lose any more money.
Is it worth contacting Travelrepublic? What are our options? I feel absolutely gutted. This is our first holiday in three years and all I can do is cry. 0please help!

Why can you not take the two rooms?
I can't believe your first though on this was your two child can't in one room alone together! Can you not bear to be apart from your husband for a few hours? 1 adult and 1 child in each room?
OK it is not ideal but you will only be sleeping you can stay together as a family in one of the rooms until bed and then join again when you wake up.
Apologies if there is a medical reason you and your husband need to be together but you don't mention one.0 -
You could take the hotel,s offer of 2 rooms and one adult sleeps in one room with one child, and the other adult does the same in the other room. Not ideal but at least you'll all be getting a decent sleep each night.0

Couldn't you take the two separate rooms with double beds and have one child and one parent in each?0
-
Well yes, certainly worth contacting Travel Republic if you booked through them. Give them a chance to sort things out or suggest options.
If this hotel doesn't have rooms with two double beds then your options are likely to be to put up and make the best of the situation, or look for an alternative hotel and pay to move and try any recover the situation later.
Have you also asked the hotel if they can perhaps place rollaway beds in the room for the kids? Or if a mattress topper would help and can be fitted to the sofa bed?
I think I would be tempted to try and reason with the young kids to sleep on the sofa beds.0 -

I was thinking the same. At least you will get a good sleep (better than the floor)0 -
For me taking two rooms will just take the enjoyment out of our holiday. We want to spend time together as a family and also in the evenings me and my husband will not be able to sit and watch TV together etc and we can't really do this if we had separate rooms as neither of us would feel comfortable leaving either of the kids alone.
The hotel did top the sofa beds with duvets but the kids still couldn't get to sleep on them.
If I booked into another hotel now will Travelrepublic reimburse me as they advertised incorrectly? I actually called them to ask about the bed situation when booking and they reassured me that there would be two doubles in the room.
I am just so gutted and really don't know what to do.0 -
Are your children winding you up?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

You have no prior authority from travel republic to pay for other accommodation and be reimbursed from them so I wouldn't assume that will be the case. You can still do family stuff together even though you are sleeping in 2 rooms instead of one. I,d still go with the 2rooms option as it makes most sense to alleviate your problem.
Also not sure how much telly you and your husband would be watching with you all in the same room without disturbing the kids when they are trying to sleep.0 -
Lol no they honestly aren't winding me up at all. I've tried sleeping on the sofa bed too and it really isn't comfy at all. I'm 5'3 and my legs stick out at the bottom so I'd rather sleep on the floor.0

I understand why you all think I should take up the offer of two rooms, but if I had wanted to go for that option I would have gone for a number of different hotels at the time of booking. I specifically chose this hotel as It advertised two beds in one room. And now I feel like I have been cheated.0
